Ranma didn't realize at first what had happened. He didn't have a clue as to how badly Mihoshi had mangled things. If he had known that Mihoshi had read a number of Tenchi's father's manga, he might have been more concerned. Had he known that the one she had picked for this fusioning experiment was 'Hanaukyo Maid Team' - he might not have realized just how bad it could get.
Now Lukkosai had realized early on that Money was a sort of power all its own. Accumulating it required a certain amount of working within the lines, which he disliked. It required a lot of hard work, which he really disliked. Yet there were ways of getting to such things. At one point in his early career he had considered it.
Now he had done so, and done so quite well. Lukkosai Hanaukyo had made a fortune and compounded it several times. Yes, he was a pervert and scoundrel. Yet working along this path had made his hobbies 'harmless eccentricities' in the eyes of society at large.
In time, Lukkosai had a daughter named Nodoka who left his mansion in order to elope with a martial artist named Genma. This was a little more tolerable in that Genma was a follower of his old wandering martial artist buddy Happosai. Lukkosai kept an eye on his daughter and when Ranma was born, kept an eye on his new grandson.
Things were definitely different though.
On his sixteenth birthday, Ranma stood over the grave of his father (who had actually survived the fall and was being nursed back to health in the Amazon Village by his new Amazon wife Dowel (she had broken his fall by being directly under him) but Ranma didn't know that) and held onto a scrap of paper. A letter which he had been told only to open if something like this occurred.
In it was a map to some house in the mountains where his grandfather supposedly lived.
