Naviru Lost Lamb: Lost Lamb and a Pair of Red-heads [Episode 50012]

by Valor Phoenix

Trailing Lagrange point in Earth (Sol-3) orbit:

The Star of Hope, a large warship resembling an Earthling Aircraft Carrier that was adapted for space and painted blue shimmered into view.

Aboard the bridge, the sensors bridge-bunny(Who coincidentally happened to be in a uniform similar to a Galaxy Police Uniform with added bunny-girl ears), announced the first sensor reading. “Destination achieved. 763 Light-Seconds to target. Active planetary sensors detected in the upper EM band, non-military. No opposition detected.”

Further bridge bunny chatter quieted down as Hilberge manipulated the sensors with her Data Aura. The central display lit up with an encore performance of the earlier lightshow, as Ranma’s aura was displayed with only a twelve minute lag time. While the bunnies were entranced, Hilberge was still manipulating the sensors and sorting out the signals. She happened to find something surprising.

A second display lit up next to Ranma’s, this one sickly and pale, the accompanying sound more of a tired moan compared to the choir like symphony of the lost orphan. After some work in manipulating the second aura, Hilberge finally uncovered the ID signal, allowing the computer to display the identity of the aura.

The second display labeled itself ‘Nodoka Mal Ranmano’.

Hilberge smirked in triumph as the decay patterns told the tale. The fate of Ranma was a 7000 year old mystery and she was rather proud to announce her preliminary findings. “Well, Ranma Dimensional drives are shut down and the sub-systems are barely subsisting, worse for Nodoka. Unassisted they would only last a few more decades. The decay patterns on Ranma are consistent with long term hibernation usage, while Nodoka’s suggest long term over-usage. It appears Nodoka got him into an escape pod and put Ranma into hibernation while she powered the pod herself for seven thousand years, only making planet fall about two decades ago.”

Esmerelda nodded to the ancient aura connoisseur. “Right, we’ll get them both medical attention as soon as possible, but first we need to secure them. It wouldn’t do for them to be endangered by being taken hostage. Until we’re ready to act, we’ll maintain stealth.”

The tactical analysis bridge bunny piped up, though this one was actually wearing a cat-girl outfit. “Passive hyper-space sensor activated, we’re being actively scanned. I can open a comm. channel.”

Esmerelda frowned thoughtfully as she rubbed the hilt of her power saber. She would never forgive herself if she failed in this. “Maintain stealth, and open a comm. line. Lock onto that active sensor and related targets and prepare to eliminate them.”

A certain petite red-headed girl scientist appeared on screen, almost squealing with interest. “A Naviru Warship? You know this is a Jurai preserve right? It must be something interesting if you’re willing to give them kittens over it.”

The captain nodded tightly, though her comfortable carefree space-pirate smirk eased into her demeanor. “Yes, it is. . . most interesting. Such as finding an exiled Space Academy Professor here Miss Washu. Tell me, what do you know of say, that island chain there? We would prefer to avoid any mistakes.”

Washu smiled in anticipation of finding out what was up and went into lecture mode. “They’re called the islands of Japan. They speak a dialect of Jurian and Jurian clothing would not be out of place there, though different styles are currently in fashion. Unless you attack or make a big fuss, they’re likely to ignore you. You could probably land a battlecarrier in Tokyo harbor and they would believe it’s a fake stunt, though it is possible you could send the Japanese Defense Force into a panic.” Washu’s grin deepened and her eyes glinted. “Now then, I am very curious as to why you’re here.”

Esmerelda paused contemplatively, smirk still masking her features. Almost any force could be a threat to Ranma, including Maverick Naviru, so she had best play this carefully.
