The curious scientist blinked. “Ranmano? That’s a strange name considering her son.”
The blond captain nodded in agreement. “It’s a bit of a Naviru custom for a woman truly devoted to someone such as an adoptive son. It’s Jurain and literally means ‘belongs to Ranma’. She was quite devoted really, she even turned her hair red.”
Washu blinked, unable to figure out the significance of that. “Well, while I agree it’s a wonderful hair color, what does that have to do with devotion?”
Esmerelda shrugged, the information she was about to reveal was public, and she couldn’t reveal the private information since it had been destroyed in a hacking attempt then the backups sealed somewhere. “Well, Ranma’s birth mother was a red-head, bright red hair mind you, rather rare in a biological species. Much like your own really. Nodoka changed her hair color so she would be a more familiar presence to little Ranma.”
The chibi-scientist pouted a bit, this was interesting small talk and all, but it wasn’t assuaging her curiousity. “Well, that really doesn’t answer me why you’re so interested. If this was a normal mission you’d have retrieved them with a shuttle already.”
The space pirate captain sighed, finding Washu just as curious as she dreaded. “Look, Ranma is an orphan we lost some 7000 years ago that has apparently been in stasis. He had a high power potential due to his father being a Jurain noble, while his mother had some sort of mental powers. I can’t give you any more info on the parents than that, the private files were lost. Normally we don’t get children form royal or powerful bloodlines, but the child was taken from the mother for not being Jurain, then put up for adoption for not being pureblooded. That’s really all we know besides his data recordings.”
After waiting a moment, the scientist didn’t pose any more questions, so Esmerelda was thankful and cut the communications off.
In her lab, Washu’s keen analytical mind was pointing out something that was a bit more important than the goings on in a Battlecarrier. Seven thousand years ago was about the right time. Mentally gifted red-head of unknown racial origin certainly described her pretty well. A Jurain noble having a child with some woman and then taking the child away was a pretty rare event.
Frowning slightly, Washu turned to her computer and brought up some of the older programs, searching for the signals of certain types of dimensional drives. Grimacing, she set it to filter out her lab, then fine tuned it until she got two signals in Japan. Working a bit more, she set up a program that would isolate their ID signals so she could make a match.
It was . . . difficult, to know that her son might be out there, within a short journey from where she had been staying. It was somewhat more difficult to look at the display and realize how deteriorated those two dimensional drives were. As the creator of the D-Drives, she was certainly an expert on them, and she had some idea what it took to put them in that condition.
Even if he wasn’t her son, he was obviously suffering. Then, there was the off chance that he actually was her son, despite how unlikely that seemed to be.
Mhmm, Tea. Yes, she definitely needed a cup of good tea now.
Esmerelda tried to relax in her captain’s chair, but today was just being so stressful. Luckily though, most of the fleet was gating in with little problem, so they had quite a lot of personnel on hand.
The moment she began relaxing was of course the moment a shiver went up her spinal column. A huge Viral-type aura had just appeared on board, and from the way her skin was crawling, it was an S or even a lower SS aura. An aura of entropy so large that unfocused it could devastate a significant portion of a planetoid.
Then, just as she thought her day was getting bad, she heard something that made it worse. “heh, you ladies can relax now that the Beautifully Busty, Genius Entropy Sorceress Extraordinaire, Lina Shabranigdu is here!”
That was just what she needed, an egotistical, greedy, short-tempered, vain entropy mage whom could destroy planets without to much effort who lacked in self control. One a rescue mission. One of the few beings mentioned in galactic ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ treaties.
A woman so vain, she had abused the Naviru natural ability to control their bodies in an argument about the size of her bust. Never mind the argument was with a traitorous Maverick known as Naga Lockheart, the White Serpentoid. She had so much ego and so little common sense that they had increased their bust to the point where anti-gravity devices had come into play, then the fools had continued after that.
Esmerelda held in her sigh and stood, straightening her pirate captain’s minidress as she did so. “Hello Lina, you’re here about the mission I take it?”
The petite red-head smirked, idly twirling her energy sword-staff. “But of course, rescuing poor Ranma will be another brilliant achievement for the most wonderful sorceress in the universe.”
The Captain internally grimaced, she did not want someone like Lina involved in a delicate rescue mission. Playing her ego and saying rescuing a lost legend was beneath her status definitely wouldn’t work. The truth would hopefully do. “I’m afraid I already have a mission chosen of the appropriate power level. Sending anyone above B class would risk provoking a fight that might endanger Ranma. This planet seems to be one of those popular backwater resort planets, so there are quite a variety of species on vacation there. Should one of them launch an assault however, then you may have something worthy of your. . ‘skills’.”
The rather fiery sorceress smirked at the nervous captain, though the omwan was doing agood job at hiding it. “Oh, and just who”, Lina stopped her question to stare at the new arrivals on bridge. Then she snorted before laughing at the Captain. “You’re sending them?”
A pair of girls, one a lively woman with short curly red-hair, the other sporting straight long purple hair bounced onto the bridge and saluted. Unlike most Naviru, their outfits showed quite a bit of skin, though they were fairly heavily armed. “Lovely Angels Kei and Yuri, reporting for duty ma’am!” they both sang out simultaneously
The captain did groan this time as she tried to rub away her growing headache. The lovely Angel may have been only C class, but they somehow managed to cause continental and sometimes planetary wide destruction with alarming regularity. What did she do to deserve this?
