Ranma had a new kingdom actually. He didn't know that either.
The fiancee came with the throne and was meant to legitimize his rule. No, he wasn't aware of that detail either.
His mother, you see, hadn't been terribly forthcoming about her past.
Genma had married a girl despite being, well, Genma - all due to a scroll that Genma had found. Instead of being a martial arts technique, it had been a summoning scroll.
Nodoka had taken human form and life due to the terms on that scroll, and had gotten used to the idea that her family had abandoned her to her fate. That her firstborn would not ascend any throne as he was meant to.
Due to the wish, whether or not this condition had existed prior to the wish, this was no longer a problem. Ranma had just been located.
Which was why said elven princess was tracking down a certain pigtailed martial artist. She wanted to meet her fiance, and frankly you know what they said about human men (wink wink nudge nudge).
So she shifted her cloak about her, pulling the hood forward so that her elven features were not as apparent and told herself that she would bring back her prince or her name was not:
