It was a continent roughly the size and shape of Antarctica, but occupying a climate band more similar to England and Ireland. In ancient days there had been gateways between there and several places that would link up on foggy moonlit nights briefly.
Due to recent problems between Titania and Oberon, neither was going to occupy the throne for some time. So someone else had to be found and when the Wish came through it was decided by and large that providence was at work.
Ranma Saotome, King Of Faerie.
The centaurs passed around their pipe of weed and agreed that it was auspicious to have a "horse" ascend the throne.
The satyrs looked at the girl troubles the boy had and nodded their agreement. Truly a mess. Horrible. Terrible. Get that boy a couple of nymphs out of petty change and maybe he'd get over his problems.
The nymphs tittered and giggled and admitted that someone without goat feet would make a fine change of pace.
The pixies and the halflings and the ogres and the various other races of the Fae agreed. They could do worse and it might just be entertaining.
There were objections of course. They were outvoted.
The first thing to do was abduct him of course and smuggle him away to underhill. He'd be filled in on the salient details later.
The second thing to do was arrange a little obstacle course for those who wished to reach him. They'd have a clear trail, at least to start with. This would be entertainment in its faerie finest after all.
Some would come after Ranma with violence in their hearts. Some would have rather different motivations. They'd face trials and tribulations to get their way through, and once they had they might be quite a bit different from how they'd started out.
But then, that too was faerie entertainment.
And in the meantime, Deedlit could work on convincing her human prince that elves were more fun.
