The manor wasn't that big. Ash had seen bigger, but it was rather opulent, especially compared to the modest settings of the rest of the villiage.
Flanked by a pair of armed guards, Ah entered the mayor's study. The mayor was a tall, sort of thin man with receeding white hair hanging down to his shoulders "So young man, you say you can help me?"
Ash nodded. "I noticed that some of your Chocobos seemed a little unruly," he said, "And you have an awfully intresting pet back there."
The Mayor raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? And you think you can properly 'train' her, is that it?"
"Yes sir!" Ash said, ignoring the mayor's scowl. "She's cute, but I think she's be a lot more entertaining if she could dance or something. She seems to be in good shape."
The Mayor blinked in supriese. "Y-you meant training like "Sure I did," Ash said. "What else were you thinking about?"
"Nothing, nevermind." The Mayor said, clearing his throat. "Well, I think you might do well, at least with the Chocobos. If you can do a satisfactory job with them, then we'll discuss working with my dear Rika."
Ash bowed slightly. He was hoping he could start with the mutant girl immediately, but he should be able to work with this, maybe get her to trust him first. "What about payment?"
"150 caps per hour, per beast." The Mayor said, "To start of course. We'll also cover expsenses."
"Why don't you become a bandit while you're at it?" Ash mumbled to himself. "Alright," He said aloud. "I'll take it, but I better get a raise later."
"If you do a good job..."
"I'll take that as a yes."
