Ash jerked to attention. "Oh, sorry!"
The Waiter, a dark-skinned man with eyes that seemed to be perpetually squinting, chuckled. "Don't be. She does that to me every day when I first come in." With that said, both of them took another moment to check Rika out.
Rika initally appeared to be a girl of average height and build, maybe a little wider in the hips. The most striking difference was the pair of long, black-tipped ears that extended from the top of her head, peeking through her long, reddish-pink hair.
Suddenly, the mutant girl looked at Ash, and he found himself lost in her light blue eyes, his heart struck by the sadness he found there.
"BROCK!" A voice from the kitchen yelled, stunning the two men from their daze. "Get your wortless hide back to work!!"
"Oops!" The waiter said, snapping back to attention. "That's my cue. Looks like I'd better boogie!"
"Seeya around, Brock!" Ash called back. With his head cleared, Ash realized that Rika was not happy there. Maybe he could do something...
