Lamp Of Mihoshi: Elf-centered [Episode 50501]

by Kestral

Corellon Lorethian, chief god of the elves, looked sadly down at the broken gamepiece. His daughter, who had made the Ultimate Sacrifice. Which meant quite a lot when one wasn't mortal in the typical sense. Had she chosen a less risky path, she could have lived a life extending for millions of years - eternal and unchanging.

Cut short.

"This might be a good time to mention something," said a familiar voice.

"Erevan, this is not a 'good time' at all," said Corellon.

"You did know that Araushnee was cheating by having made a 'backup' of herself, didn't you?" asked Erevan, the trickster god of the elves.

"Of course she did, she's Araushnee," said Corellon, sounding tired. "Just as our own nature meant that while we were tricky, neither myself nor my daughter outright cheated."

"That either of you knew of," said Erevan.

"Excuse me?" asked Corellon.

"Someone sneaky might have made a sort of spirit-impression on your daughter Ell at some point," said Erevan, apparently inspecting his fingernails despite wearing a pair of gloves. "Someone MIGHT have arranged a few things. With a someone here and there."

"That still wouldn't mean that Qilue or any of the others who died yet live," said Corellon, though suspicions were raising themselves and distracting him from the death of his daughter. "You don't have the power to pull this off, even if you ARE (ahem) skilled enough to manage something like this under all of our noses."

"You mean 'sneaky,'" said Erevan Ilesere. "It was tricky. I had to go outside the pantheon. Get ahold of other trickster-gods. Only the relatively trustworthy ones who wanted to pull one off under the nose of some humorless bunch like Araunshee's followers."

"Oddly enough, I could see it," said Corellon. "In order for the change from drow to dark elves to take place, the sacrifice had to be real though."

"Oh, it was," said Erevan, allowing genuine sadness to bubble forth from his usual mood briefly. "Still, some tiny little part could survive as long as nobody involved knew at the time. I even checked with Lord Ao and made sure this was all covered."

Corellon stared. Some tiny fragment of his daughter lived?

"The problem was that after all was said and done, the arrangement was a bit odd," said Erevan. "She's engaged to a teenage human male, who has been elevated to the position of Prince Of The Elves in a world that doesn't have elves. Errr, I should say didn't have elves. Or faerie. Or... well, she always was a bit of a stick in the mud and maybe this will get her over that 'shyness' factor."

Corellon Larethian wondered exactly what deal had been made.

"I'm what?" asked Ranma.

"The recipient of some wedding gifts!" said Mihoshi. "Oh this is so NICE!"

"Say what?" asked Ranma.

Mihoshi bent down and turned around, and gave him a wink. "I'm gonna fix it up right here in the sink."

"Uhm, right," said Ranma. "WHAT?"

"From Erevan Ilesere, you get the Special Technique: Steal," said Mihoshi.

"Waitaminute," said Ranma as the special technique appeared in his mind. "I can... hey that might actually come in handy."

"From Aerdrie Faenya, you get the Special Technique: Bufu-jutsu. Wow, I didn't know she read Dragonball."

"I can... fly?" asked Ranma, thinking that getting away from people was gonna be a lot easier.

"Deep Sashelas grants you the ability to speak to dolphins, whales, and things like that," said Mihoshi.

"Eh?" asked Ranma, thinking that sounded fairly useless actually.

"Fenmarel said he doesn't really like to associate with nonelves, but Corellon said that was gonna be fixed anyway," said Mihoshi, "so he gives you the ability to Turn Urban Waste Into Forest. Says it's the only time Erevan ever had an idea he liked."

"WHOA," said Ranma as he suddenly learned that magic.

"Corellon said something about you having to become an elf and remaining young forever or something, is that okay with you?" asked Mihoshi.

"I guess," mumbled Ranma, experimenting with turning some trash at a curb into a small bush.

Poof!

Ranma blinked and reached up to feel lightly pointed ears. "HEY!"

"Hanali Celanil apparently contacted your mother and got permission to make you a man among elves with superior manly elflyness or something like that," said Mihoshi, continuing on.

"That does NOT sound good," said Ranma.

"Labelas Enoreth gave you an immunity to someone manipulating your timestream, I don't know why he'd give you a weird gift like that," confessed Mihoshi.

"A who manipulating what?" asked Ranma.

"Rillifane gave you the ability to summon a magic bow and arrows," said Mihoshi, "and a hearty congratulations and may you beget an entire nation of elves or something."

Ranma considered fainting.

"Sehanine also got to talking with your mother, and I'm not sure what any of this means," said Mihoshi.

"This is a nightmare," muttered Ranma. "Who are these guys?"

"Elven gods," answered Mihoshi.

"...elf? gods?" asked Ranma.

"Oh wow, you've got so many girlfriends!" chirped Mihoshi.

"Uhm, yeah, well about that," began Ranma.

"Elves, dark elves, faerie, sylphs," said Mihoshi. "Oh dear. My my. (Giggle.)"

"EHHH?!" asked Ranma.
