The "challenge" was a three story brick keep with strong walls and an old, crumbling outer wall. It radiated a feeling of loneliness and cold out and around the entire scene. It was most definitely virtually buried under dirt beneath all of that.
"Yeah," Tirga said. "Nobody's lived in it for the last hundred years or so...uh...you don't have to be here with me."
"Oh, but I should see my new home," Kasumi said. "I must know what to plan for after all."
"But this could be dangerous," Tirga reminded her, again. Kasumi seemed unaffected.
"Oh I am quite used to danger, Tirga-dear," Kasumi said, adding the title quite naturally and properly.
After all, she was married to him now, or so that nice priestess of Hestia had told her. Though Kasumi wondered why she went over all the annullment and divorce proceedings so thoroughly.
"You're used to danger?" Tirga repeated.
"Oh yes," Kasumi said.
"Well, I suppose with that Ranma kid around," Tirga started.
"Yes," Kasumi said. "I was so happy after he had showed up, things had been starting to calm down it seemed."
"Eh?" Tirga said.
"Well," Kasumi said. "Nuku Nuku-chan moved somewhere, though she was supposed to be coming back soon. Hmmm, I wonder if Nabiki remembers that. Anyway, without her around things were oh so much more calm and uninteresting. And then Ranma moves in and I don't even have to leave the house to watch."
"Uhhh..." Tirga said intelligently. Kasumi smiled cheerfully and walked forward to the gate and then stopped a surprised look on her face, as if she just remembered something.
"Oh," Kasumi said, then turned a rather pleasant smile toward her husband. "Shouldn't you carry me across the threshold?"
"Oh, right," Tirga said. He walked forward and gallantly lifted Kasumi up in his arms, unable to resist a rakish grin.
"You smile like that Tirga-dear," Kasumi said with a twinkle. "And you make me think you want to do something naughty."
"Maybe," Tirga said, his baser nature clouding his memory of exactly where he was. And so they walked into the dismal realm of his family "keep."
Which was really just an old border tower that they had converted a while back and abandoned when generation after generation had turned to adventuring.
Meanwhile, their were the "ghosts" to consider...
((AN: See Sword and Fist for the layout of a border tower, its about 50'x50' at the base))
