"Huh?" Ranma said, blinking. "Errr..." He looked around for a moment.
"Is there a problem?" Gar asked tightly. "I thought it was customary for Japanese men to bath communally."
"It ain't that," Ranma said. "Just, could you look at the wall for a minute or so."
"Why?" Gar asked.
"Cause' I gotta wash up first," Ranma said. "An, the wash bucket is cold water, an I don't need anybody staring at me."
"What do you mean?" Gar asked. Ranma sighed irritably, walked over the sink and splashed himself with cold water.
"Do ya get it?" Ranma asked. Gar blushed furiously and turned away, trying not to listen as Ranma quickly and efficiently washed herself off. And he didn't peek...much.
"You can look now," Ranma said, his voice male again. Gar turned to see Ranma-kun sitting across from him. There was a long uncomfortable silence.
"I'm glad you're marrying my sister and Brianna," Gar said. "Many men would balk at this situation."
"Like that Tirga jerk?' Ranma asked.
"Yes," Gar said.
"He better not balk on Kasumi," Ranma said. "Cause he won't be worth much afterwards."
"He won't shirk his duty," Gar said. ~Not as long as we have anything to say about it at least.~ Ranma nodded approvingly.
"So, how'd you make out?" Ranma asked, unaware of the innuendo in his words. Gar winced, but noticed no malicious intent in Ranma's eyes.
"I may have given Brittany a baby," Gar said. "Or it might be her husband's we don't know."
"Yeesh," Ranma said. "It could have been worse I guess, you could have had a girlfriend that found out about this."
Gar winced and wondered how Luan was going to react to him now. He had avoided her since waking up (actually, she had avoided him too, wondering the same thing) but he imagined that she had to be pretty upset.
A bruised and weary mass of wererat came into furo, washed himself down, and then slipped into the furo.
"Met the mallet a couple of times, eh?" Ranma asked.
"What is with that girl?" Romeo asked. "One minute she's nice, the next she's psycho."
"She gets that way when stuff goes weird," Ranma said. "An this is very weird."
"So this isn't normal?" Romeo asked hopefully.
"Now, she usually has a fairly good reason for hitting people," Ranma said. "She ain't always right about her reason, but there's still usually good reason."
"Great," Romeo said. Then he blinked and noticed that he was in a tub with two were-cats.
"So, what do you plan to do to raise a family," Gar asked.
"I dunno," Ranma said. "What's there to do in this Jade place?"
"Adventuring, Edge Guard, Military, Enforcer," Gar listed off, shrugging. "Tracker. Bodyguard, a few other things. If you're good enough you can be a teacher, but that takes some time."
And at this point Tirga wandered in, feeling shell-shocked.
"I'm engaged," Tirga said woodenly as he entered the now crowded furo, thankfully he and Gar were in human form, and Ranma was in jagwere form, so not as much space was taken as would have been normal.
"We know," Gar said.
"There's a werecheetah down there threatening to make me into something called okamaki..."
"Okonomiyaki," Ranma corrected.
"Whatever," Gar said. "She and a couple of others threatened to turn me into a rug if I didn't marry Kasumi."
"That sounds about right for that them," Ranma said.
"What is with this Kasumi girl?" Gar asked.
"She's the nicest person you'll ever meet," Ranma said. Tirga nodded absently.
"I feel guilty just talking to her," Tirga said.
"Where are you going to live?" Gar asked.
"She's going to come help me renovate the family keep," Tirga said.
"Isn't your family keep, haunted?" Gar asked.
"Yep," Tirga said, still obviously dazed.
"And what are you going to do about Akane?" Ranma asked.
"Err..." Romeo said. "Moisha, Lyds and I are getting taken to this Jade place so that that Julia person can keep an eye on us. So...err...she's coming with us."
"Oi," Ranma said. "I'll bet she's happy about that." Romeo winced.
And so the conversation continued.
