As Kodachi realized that this was action was not the most advisable she'd ever taken, she heard something behind her and caught a hint of flashing light. A brief glance over her shoulder gave her a glimpse of what was coming before it rammed into her back and erupted out of her chest.
Kodachi twitched, eyes wide in astonishment as blood flowed out of her mouth and she clutched ineffectively at the weapon upon which she'd been skewered.
As she full further into the final darkness of her death, the instrument of her destruction charged with power and coruscating bands of energy stretched outward through Kodachi's body.
The gymnast screamed in her dying agony and was still screaming as her body was consummed by the energy and vanished in a final flash of light. The weapon, it's white form slowly turning black, remained sticking out of the ground, a final shimmer of energy passing over it, etching runic symbols across its form, before it lay silent and still.

Kodachi snapped to awareness. She was still in the glade with that infernal trick. And, fortunately, she could feel no pain. She would have sighed in relief and amusement, but didn't for some reason that hadn't yet occured to her.
"Obviously that was some form of illusion," Kodachi reasoned. "How quaint."
"I'm afraid it was no illusion," a voice said. "You have died."
"I do not feel dead," Kodachi protested. "Come out and show yourselves. She attempted to shift around, but found, for some reason, that she could not move. Obviously some trick by her unseen tormentors.
"You are not ready yet," the voice said. "You sought to activate the trap, and now it is activated."
"What do you speak of, fool?" Kodachi shouted, trying to even determine if the voice were male or female.
"The wages of treachery must be paid," the voice explained. "In loyalty. You are bound to the weapon. You ARE the weapon. Even now the gaes is being woven around your soul and the knowledge of your capabilities is setting in."
Kodachi was about to protest when she did, indeed feel...something worming its way through her mind.
"For now you are bound to this glade," the voice explained. "Which is being moved further into the labyrinth as we speak. When next a contestant enters the glade, they will see you. When they read your name emblazoned on your body, Kodachi, you will project a form of your old body and challenge them to combat, explaining the rules and rewards first, of course. If they succeed, then they will bear you as a weapon, and you will be loyal to them. Should they fail further in the labyrinth, you will be returned to the glade."
"I....I'm dead?" Kodachi whimpered trying to disbelieve what was being said.
"Yes," the voice said. "And until a contestant succeeds at this labyrinth, you will be stuck here forever."
"What if they skip me?" Kodachi asked.
"Oh, they won't do that," the voice said. "They can't you are the key that unlocks the final door. You are the weapon of our queen, and you shall be her tutor, advisor, protector, possibly even lover..."
"You mean slave," Kodachi spat.
"Yes," the voice said, amused. "And that way lies the path of your freedom. You are a corrupt soul and so your new body lies blackened outside. As your actions purify your soul, the weapon will gradually turn white again. When it is completely without mark, the queen may free your soul, should you desire it, and your projected puppet will be your true form again while the weapon loses its power. The is further motivation, as your soul becomes pure, you will become more powerful."
"How long does this take?" Kodachi asked.
"On average?" the voice asked. Kodachi gave the mental equivalent to a nod. "Ten millenia. Plus however much time it takes to find a bearer willing to free you."
