"So, we're going to go hunting then?" Raphiel asked.
"You don't have to," Julia said. "The kitchen should still be stocked from my last visit. I do keep the kitchen filled with some canned food items from the Earth Realm."
"Let me take a guess..." Lyida began. "Part of our #@$%ing training under you will be to cook your dinner?"
"No, that's not part of the training." Julia answered. "Eating is just a fundamental of living. And I am sure you will help each other."
Smiling Akane said, "I'll be happy to cook!" This would show them, Akane knew that she could cook. After all, she had been making curry for quite some time, so naturally, that had to have affected her overall cooking skill.
Waving his head, Raphiel asked, "Oh, can I help?"
Julia then interuppted. "Not tonight. I thinking now that maybe Akane should cook with Romeo."
"ME!?" "HIM?"
"Why yes," Julia began. "It will give you two something to do." And Julia then mentally added, "And hopefully bring you two closer..."
(------)
Akane smiled as she looked around the kitchen. It was huge. Of course, she frowned as she saw that nothing was 'modern' as she knew it. Oh well, how hard could it be to light a fire in a stove?
"Are the others going out to get some ingredients?" Akane asked Romeo as she saw him walk in with a bag of rice in his arms.
"N, not yet..." Romeo said as he then dropped the bag of rice, breathing heavilly as he did so. "The male jagwere, the male werecheetah, two human girls, Lyds, and Moisha are out hunting."
Nodding her head. "Okay. No problem. We'll just start getting some sauces, spices, and such together."
"Okay..." Romeo said. The two went to work, looking around the kitchen to see what they had.
(------)
Romeo stared as he saw Akane hacking away at the large deer the others had brought back. The sight of Akane in a butcher's robe, covered head-to-toe in blood, and carrying a large butcher's knife scared the crap outta him!
"HIYAH!" Akane pronounced as she brought the cleaving tool down again. This was great excercise. Not only was she 'cooking', but it was also martial arts training, and reminded Akane of her days breaking bricks in the Tendo Dojo.
"Akane..." Romeo began. Perhaps, you're enjoying this too much..."
"HIYAH!!!" Akane screamed as she brought the large butcher's knife down upon the deer's skull, spraying antler bits, skull chips, and brain matter everywhere.
As soon as Romeo was covered in deer bits, he ran out of the room, his hand over his mouth. He needed to find the outhouse, QUICK!
(------)
Romeo watched as a huge flame shot up from the frying pan Akane was using. "HOLY CRAP! DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!?" He asked.
"Of course! I cook all the time!" If Ranma was here, he would contest to that. However, he would also mention that all of her cooking, with the exception of curry and boiled water is practically toxic.
(------)
Julia, Gar, Luan, Carla, Moisha, Lydia, and Raphiel sat around the dining room table. The dining room was set up in a fashion similar to most oriental homes, with a low table, and everyone kneeling down at it.
Julia couldn't help but notice that Gar and Luan seemed to be avoiding each other. Everytime that Gar and Luan were forced to be in the same room at the same time, (like now) they were looking down a lot, avoiding all eye contact around them.
"It's ready!" A voice was heard from the hallway that lead into the dining room. Akane looked excited, while a very bandaged Romeo was pushing a large catering cart, with tray with covers on them into the dining room.
"What the $@#& happened to you Romeo!?" Lydia asked, seeing Romeo was not only burnt and missing a few fingers, but the bandages weren't even properly put on.
"Kitchen accidents." Romeo replied as he was setting down plates before each person sitting at the table.
It was then Akane dumped large black masses that looked like coal onto each person's plate. "What's this?" Gar asked.
"Fried rice." Akane asnwered as she kept shoveling portions of food onto each person's plate.
"What's this?" Carla asked, pointing to the small strings that looked like hair.
"Soba noodles." Akane replied.
"And this?" Moisha asked, holding up a plate with a small piece of charcoal with little white specks.
"Deer meat croquets." Akane said.
"What's this soup?" Raphiel asked as he held a small bowl up to his nose to smell it.
"That's the bread." Akane answered.
"Master, do we have to eat this?" Luan whispered into Julia's ear.
Nodding her head, Julia said, "Of course. There's no person in their right mind that would serve food if they know it's been prepared incorrectly. So it could be very possible that she prefers her food to look different."
"Well, it doesn't smell bad." Raphiel said as he took a scent. It smelled somehow 'off' from what it should, but not bad.
When everyone was gathered around the table, it was then Julia said, "Well, let's eat." And each person took a bite from their food...
And either quickly passed out, writhed around in agongy, or a small combination of the two...
Except for Raphiel who was still eating. "This is really good!" Raphiel said as he drak from the bowl that had his 'bread'.
"NO WAY IN %$#@ING HELL!!!"
"Oh. Then can I have it?"
