Ranma promptly forgot his father teaching him that to use a weapon meant that you were weak - crippled by dependence on something outside yourself.
Why?
Well, if you saw said instructor being treated like a puck at an NHL playoff, how weak would you consider these weapon-users to be?
a) Very weak.
b) Somewhat weak.
c) Just kinda weak.
d) Not very weak at all.
e) Obviously stronger than the instructor.
Ranma, not being an idiot (yet) decided to circle "E". Bells dinged and confetti drifted down (courtesy of the genie - who was one of the other tattoos) as he won this round.
These were AD&D Dwarves, not exactly Dopey, Grumpy, Doc, etc. Average level of 12, all Warriors or Clerics.
They had set their weapons to Stun, but were turning Genma black and blue anyway.
Genma unsealed the Umisenken and Yamasenken. It didn't really help. The dwarves all had +4 Dwarven Plate Armor and an impressive set of weapons. Even when set to Stun for a slapstick scene.
After pounding Genma repeatedly and throwing him into a nearby pit, the dwarves faded.
Ranma looked down at his materia/tattoos and decided to try this one. This turned out to summon:
