The Karate Club president looked at the Wrestling Club president. The Boxing Club president looked at the Judo Club president. With a shared nod of the head, they all turned at Kuno, charging at him in unison.
Kuno's eyes narrowed, he shifted his grip on his wooden sword. An arc of electricity danced across the wood surface a moment before Kuno pivoted toward his onrushing foes.
"HAAA!!" he cried as he slashed upward with his now glowing boken. All of his attackers hurled backward from the shock, landing dozens of feet away.
"Fools." He said as he turned back to Akane. "Now we shall. . ." He paused to look to one side, where Ranma was leaning over and sniffing at his sleeve. "Back! What manner of man art though?"
Ranma stepped back, blinking in confusion for a second, then put one hand behind his head. "Ah, sorry. Ranma Saotome, I just though I smelled something funny and wanted to check."
By the building Ronri slapped his forehead with the comment, "Aw nuts!"
"Smelled. . . YOU DARE CAST AVERSIONS ON TATEWAKI KUNO'S HYGENE?!"
"He didn't mean anything by it Kuno." Akane interjected, stepping up. She pushed at Ranma muttering "Beat it before you get hurt!"
"Why are you defending this uncouth fool?" Kuno asked.
"Um. . ." Akane started.
"Friend of the families, staying at the Dojo, Martial Artist's duty, uncertainty about you. . ." Ranma commented, tapping a successive finger for each.
"What!" Kuno called, "You think yourself worthy to share the same roof as the beauteous Akane Tendo?!"
Ranma scratched his head. "Well our dads think so."
"I forbid it!" Kuno screamed stepping forward, and lashing out with a one handed slash at Ranma. He blinked as Ranma vanished from the cut's path, then pivoted to the tree Ranma had landed against, and struck again, slicing the tree in half, then staring at Ranma who had avoided that strike as well and was balancing on his Boken.
"Have I offended you in some way?" Ranma asked in a confused voice as he hopped off the Boken.
Kuno scowled. "All the stars in the heavens cannot catalog your offenses." He took his boken in both hands and assumed a ready Kendo stance. "Know this! You face the rising star of the Kendo world, the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High!" Lightning crashed to punctuate his pronouncement. "Tatewaki Kuno."
Ranma nodded appreciatively, looking up at the cloudless sky. "I'm Ranma Saotome, heir of the Saotome School of Anything Goes Martial Arts. I accept your challenge."
