Ginny flung herself around the corner and into Harry, a shy smile on her face as she pulled back from the impromptu hug and looked up into his face. "Sorry, Harry. I just wanted to say thanks for rescuing me."
Harry smiled back at his... sidekick protege. No, his friend, Harry found himself startled to think of Ginny his friend and companion, and yet, it was true.
He did care for her welfare, Riddle or no Riddle. He would public say that she was his loyal aide, but in truth, she was a true friend.
For despite his obssession with Voldemort, Harry admited to himself it was an obssession, he had given some thought on life outside of Voldemort and the possibilities of what to do -after- Voldemort was truly dead and destroyed.
"Ginny, it's nothing... really," the young wizard was rather non-pussed when the younger witch simply, for want of a word, glomped him.
That was when the hand came down on her shoulder, looking up Harry saw that it was Albus Dumbledore. The grave expression on the Headmaster's face made him swallow, that was before Professor Snape stepped out from behind the Headmaster.
"Mister Potter, I do believe we have things to discuss," the ill-feeling in Harry's gut told him that it couldn't be anything good, could they have found out what had happened. Had he been betrayed in some unknown way? "Most grave things to discuss. Grave things that concern you and miss Weasely."
Draco smirked as the trice-damned Potter walked off about to be reprimanded by the Headmaster and Professor Snape.
It had been well worth it waiting and quietly plotting, like a serpent actually.
A Slytherin mudborn actually daring to snub his cliche was unacceptable. Even worse was upshowing him.
Being a quiddich player in the first year. Foiling You-Know-Who by finding the Philsopher's Stone and revealing not one, but two Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers as frauds.
Well, Harry Potter was going to discover a star that burned bright and alone, would also gutter and die in the darkness alone.
Granted, Draco didn't dare to challenge the gifted wizard, as he was good, very good at picking up spells off the bat.
The obssession of Harry against Voldemort did translate over into skills that were very much applicable in a duel. He had found that out to his pain and sorrow.
But a Slytherin should resort only to violence as a last resort, after all... intelligence and underhandedness was the trait of the Slytherin.
"Come Crabbe, Goyle... we have our own discussion to attend to," Draco smirked as he limped away, walking stick supporting him not seeing the dark look that Harry directed at his back.
A look that not even Albus Dumbledore caught as he had simply been in the wrong position to see the look on Harry's face.
