Fighting back a scowl, he resumed pacing, thoughts flickering through his mind as he waited for Ginny to return to the Slytherin quarters. What if Madame Pomfrey found what was now hidden inside her during her examination? Most of the professors were holding back from teaching him what he needed to survive, he was sure. They didn't approve of his "obsession", as Professor McGonnagal had put it bluntly after he was caught one too many times in the restricted section of the library.
He snorted. Obsession. Like any of them understood what it was like to have your parents murdered in front of you, dim memories of a laugh and a flash of green light managing to survive for 11 years in your mind. He just wanted to survive the inevitable confrontation. After meeting Tom Riddle he was more sure than ever that Voldemort was going to manage to regain his power and body eventually.
That snapped him back to his current worries about Ginny Weasely and the precious knowledge she carried inside her. He needed that resource to supplement the tidbits the professors were willing to hand out to him. More importantly, he needed the insight that Tom Riddle's memories would provide him into Voldemort. How he thought. What he felt. Why he had done the things he had done.
Another student walked through the common room and gave him an odd look, so he forced himself to sit in a chair near the fire. A book sat in his lap, unread as he continued watching the entrance
Of course, he would need to be careful. Ginny was already suspicious of the blackouts she had been having. She would put two and two together after this and realize they were related to Riddle. The blackouts couldn't continue after this as far as the youngest Weasely was concerned or he might as well go to Dumbledore and explain the whole thing right now.
Perhaps some late night study sessions were in order in the future, just he and Ginny...and eventually Riddle when he let him out of his cage. Yes, she wouldn't suspect if she woke up with her head on her boo--
A noise outside in the corridor alerted him and he jumped to his feet, his hand casually resting beside the wand stowed in the deep pockets of his robe.
Harry returned the hug, startled to find himself glad to find Ginny in good health, Riddle or no Riddle.
