Soun tried following a rumor about ancient martial arts secrets and eventually found a sensei. Or rather the sensei found him. As in found him trying to sneak into their mountain village and steal secrets.
After a set of accidents that he really never felt was truly his fault, he'd managed to knock out a young lady named Koh Ehm.
"Wo da airen. Wo ai ni."
Kimiko Tendo had not been at all happy to learn of this development. Not even remotely. Yet, with Japanese stoicism and no small amount of courage, she went after her wayward husband.
When she and Soun returned to Japan a year later, things had gotten... complicated.
Yes, 'complicated' was a good way of putting it.
Kimiko Tendo died six years later of an aortic aneurysm. Koh Ehm arrived nine months later with her own child, to help raise the children and keep her husband from doing anything stupid.
