Ranko's New Job: New Job Responsibility [Episode 5299]

Professor Tomoe was dead. Hotaru Tomoe was now Ranma's responsibility.

The news hadn't sat well with the Tendo family. On finding out that Ranma was supposed to take care of a girl, everyone had leapt to conclusions instead of just hearing him out.

Pretty much standard situation, wasn't it?

Except that he'd been told to abandon this other girl, and he couldn't. Not only had he given the Professor his personal word to protect his daughter, he'd given Hotaru his word personally.

Not only had that nice government man hinted very strongly that abandoning the girl would not be acceptable, Ranma's own protective instincts beat him up over the issue.

Everyone at the Tendo household expected him to return, properly contrite, after a couple of days.

What actually happened was:

• using the insurance money, Ranma/Ranko set up in a small apartment with his "daughter" Hotaru over in another district of Tokyo.
• as above but the Nerima insanity factor follows him, at least in part.
• actually the Tendos are right, Ranma is a spineless weenie who does whatever his father tells him to do, etc.
• Cologne gets a good look at the little girl and has a pretty good eye for raw power potential. Hotaru the Amazon?
• something else
