Hotaru deserved that and more in his book. Not only had he promised that he would take care of her, but he had found that he wanted to. Especially after the mess at the Dojo. Akane accused him of 'bringing his latest hussy into my home' and then there was the demands of the 'fathers'. Well, he wasn't going to be like them. He could understand how Kasumi worried about the problems that his raising her would bring, and Nabiki's complaints about how much it would cost. But he wasn't going to be his father and throw away his responsibilities when they became inconvient.
So, with all disapproval he'd gotten there, he'd decided to move to someplace he could raise Hotaru to be as normal a girl as he could. and if that meant yelling at almost everyone at the Dojo, then that's what he'd do.

Kasumi was wiping down the kitchen counters in the Tendo house, but her mind wasn't on the task at hand. Rather, it was on a certain pigtailed boy and his new 'daughter'. The poor child had just lost her father and it had been wonderful that Ranma had stepped in. But she had worried about the challenges he'd faced. Still, it had been rather astounding to see how much Ranma had exploded when pushed too far on little Hotaru.
Now the both of them were gone, and things were problematic at the dojo. Akane would proclaim loudly that she did not 'miss that jerk', even when not asked. Nabiki had been closeted in her room when she was home. And then the fathers had been cossetted together ever since the hangover had ended from the aftermath of Ranma's departure.
She did hope that Ranma and Hotaru were all right.

Sitting in the living room of his and Hotaru's new apartment, Ranma sat and watched television with Hotaru. Or more like it, watched Hotaru watch television. This fragile girl had turned his life upside down, and he couldn't blame her for it. Instead, he smiled as he watched as she giggled at something on the screen. There had been too little of that ever since her father's death.
Even if dinner was a bit on the plain side, it didn't matter as long as he was able to keep taking care of her.
Besides, he had a bad feeling about the Chinese and Okonomiyaki places that had just opened... But right now was for relaxing with an evening in. All too soon, they'd have to go to bed and in the morning, he'd have to send her to school while he:
