Shortly after the failed wedding Ranma had started going on training trips, without telling anyone where he was going. He went to temples, shrines, libraries, dojos, and anywhere else that might have even a clue on how to cure or control his curse. It took him a long time, but after two years of taking a 'training trip' whenever he could, he had pieced together a way to control his curse.
Waiting until after he graduated, since graduation was only two weeks away, and then he would work on mastering the technique over the summer. He was successful.
When he succeeded, and the NWC found out, it was a shock to them, and then came the demands. His father demanding that he marry Akane now that he didn't have the excuse of the curse. The other cursed martial artists demanding that he teach them. Akane demanding that he eat her cooking (well alright, nothing new there). It was quite stressfull, but he was determined not to break.
For the next two years, Ranma tried everything in his power to teach the other cursed individuals how to control the curse, but they could not grasp even the basics of it. What Ranma didn't know was that he had gone beyond martial arts, or magic, and combined them into one to form the technique. But after the two years was over, he would never again try to teach the technique, and in fact cursed all of the time he spent in search of it, because that is when he 'died' the first time, and rose again, remembering the whole of the time he was 'dead,' having been conscious through it all.
