He had just been to Jusenkyo when a woman had told him of fate and duty and a need for his services.
He'd argued that while he was currently very unhappy with his father, Genma Saotome was still his father and said father wanted to go to Nerima for some reason - not Juuban.
Said woman, name of Setsuna Meiou, had brought up decisions that Genma had made in the past. Cat Fist, Jusenkyo, Amazon Village, and a few others that fit into the category of "not quite as bad but still pretty darn horrible lapses in judgement".
Ranma had followed her and found that things were indeed as bad as he had been told. Or worse.
Now he'd only been here for a couple of days but he was discovering benefits and responsibilities.
He wasn't exactly friends with the witches, but they weren't nearly as bad as they had been. Mimette just plain scared him still.
The others though, he was getting to know and he did consider them friends.
He had to get better at utilizing their powers in order to keep more than two out at a time. He had to take up their responsibilities while they couldn't.
All he had to do was look at the devastation of parts of Azabu Juuban to remind himself of just how bad things could get if he didn't take those responsibilities seriously.
There were rents in the ground. Mugen High School looked like a bomb crater. Buildings had been crushed. Streets cracked and buckled. Parks where every blade of grass and burrowing beetle was dead.
No, this was not some battle you could just walk away from and count on someone else to fight it.
So he was using the apartment of this Meiou chick to stay in while he tried to figure out what next.
"Big brother! I made cookies!"
Ranma raised his head up as Hotaru brought in a plate of sugar cookies.
Now here was something unexpected. The Angel Of Death was a nice kid. Ranma felt as if he'd gained a little sister.
Yup. Things were looking up.
"Clow card! Return to your power confined!"
"Would you stop that?! It's getting quite annoying!"
"Kero! Why is it not working?"
Ranma watched as Setsuna came in, looking somewhat perturbed, followed by a little girl of about Hotaru's age, followed by a stuffed animal of some kind.
"I could tell you why it's not working," said Setsuna.
"Clow cards aren't normally that good at conversation," pointed out the stuffed animal to the little girl.
"That's because she's not a Clow Card, she's a Ranma Card," said Ranma, waggling his fingers in greeting.
"Oh," said the little girl. "You know about the Clow Cards?"
"You might say I've heard something about them," admitted Ranma.
