The Wizard looked absolutely calm. This was a guise, a false face, a mask, a ruse. He waited until the boy who had turned into a girl was facing elsewhere, distracted by motion in a window, and replaced his own presence with a remote-control illusion.
It was prudence, not fear.
He had thought the situation under control. It had proven to be beyond his grasp. The Spells R Us Wizard wasn't sure what it was - was it just the chaos of Nerima, the inevitable swing of fate, or what. Maybe Ranma Saotome's luck had finally gotten so bad it had swung around and was up at the top of the scale now.
Nor was it permanent. His current female form would change back to male once his energy level had dropped enough. Of course, the Wizard didn't want to be near ground zero when that occurred.
It was because Ranma had turned into a SPECIFIC magical girl. Elements of personality would be hitting about now - which could be very very bad if that magical girl perceived him as being both present and as a not very good person.
