That was when the canal she was standing near began exuding ropy tentacles towards her.
"CRESCENT BEAM! CRESCENT BEAM!"
Again Sailor Venus turned to running, as her Crescent Beam attack acted mainly like a laser and could cut through wood easily enough. Punching little holes in these thick water tendrils had little effect though beyond slowing them down.
A rustle gave her enough warning to avoid the branches trying to grab her. Fortunately her volleyball skills and training in gymnastics allowed her to diving roll and come up on the other side. The problem was that she was getting winded now.
"Fire! Soul!"
The tree-being screamed in pain as a flamethrower attack wrapped around it.
"Sailor Mars!" Sailor Venus exclaimed. "The enemy apparently can move trees and water to her bidding."
"So I noticed," said Sailor Mars, warily looking in all directions as the tree fled.
"please run"
The two Sailors looked down at a small drain set into the street. "Excuse me?" asked Sailor Mars.
"we are enslaved to her will. we must do her bidding. run before she gets you too as she has enslaved your sister. if you can please please free us"
Of course this immediately put the two Senshi into a moral quandry. Blasting away yoma was not a problem. Blasting away unwilling slaves was quite a bit more dicey.
"Who's she?" Sailor Mars asked the whisperer from the storm drain.
"I cannot say. Run. I will be punished for not catching you but it is nothing to the torments that await me if I do not try." The whisperer seemed to look up at them briefly, an eye the color of snowmelt briefly flashing in the darkness.
Thus warned, the Senshi split up and began firing blasts into the storm drain but not really aiming where they'd seen the eye. The two turned and ran as one, knowing the other Senshi had to be made aware of this.
