"Look, there isn't much work," Shido said. "I just need someone to watch the office and take down messages while I'm unavailable, and make coffee and tea for the clients."
"But this is a private investigator's office," Nabiki protested. "There's legwork to be done, information to be uncovered. And I'm qualified to do that."
"You're just a kid," Shido said confused and concerned by the reaction.
"I'm almost an adult," Nabiki qualified. "Seven months from now I will be an adult legally."
"Look, if you want the job, you got it," Shido said. "Do you have any problems?"
"I suppose not," Nabiki said, gritting her teeth.
"Good, I'll see you tomorrow," Shido said. Nabiki strode out the door grumbling about the waste of good talent as she did so.
"She's going to be a problem," Guni said as she came out of hiding from Shido's hair. "She's going to want to prove herself, and then she'll end up getting in trouble and bringing you with her."
"Anybody's going to be trouble," Shido said. "But we need somebody to mind the shop while we're out. There's nothing else for it. Unless you think humans will take kindly to you."
