It was so hard to make a decision on what to wish for. One thing Ranma had learned is that nothing is free in life. Sometimes the cost was something you could afford while other times it just wasn't worth what would be gained.
In exchange for being so good at martial arts, his abilities and enjoyment of things outside of the art had been greatly reduced.
The neko-ken was a quick example of the tradeoffs in life. Forever he would be both burdened and blessed from the training of that technique. A fear of cats & claws of chi, a split personality & the instincts of a predator.. yes, there is both a yin and a yang to life and all things.
He could wish to be highly intelligent and it would probably even be a good thing. But what would the cost be? Would he lose his physical abilities? Would he no longer be able to find the simple enjoyment of life that he now found in his katas?
He decided that if he was going to make a wish then it would either have to be something he really needed or else something that had costs he could afford more.
