Thin villagers mixing here and there with grim men in military fatigues. Most of the people present were working on the farm land and other chores, but the soldiers never had their weapons far from hand, and there was always one or two on guard.
Eyes were locked on the vampire and the immortal walking into their midsts.
"I daresay that this scene gives me a little in the way of deja vu," Pierson said, thinking of many other similar villages he had raided in his day.
"I'll consider that comment," Mina said, frowning. "Do you notice anything...peculiar Mr. Pierson?"
"Easily," Adam answered. Both were referring to the feel of...something...that set their more esoteric senses buzzing.
