But none of them had managed to become the one that managed to capture his heart. Instead it had been a man who had done so. When Herb had married the pigtailed girl, everyone had been shocked. It hadn't mattered that she had been truly happened, or that they had been a loving couple. They had been rejected for someone of the opposite gender.
Everything that they had done, all that they had gone through and everything that they had given up had been for naught. Instead of running a resturant together, or raising future champions, they were being pushed to the sidelines as Ranma got married in the dress that everyone had assumed would have been one of the girls'. Even while people were 'oohing' over the happy couple, there were rumors and whispered words that just served to fan the flames of anger and hurt in the girls' hearts.
And so they acted. No matter that Ranma had wanted to have some sort of at least peace with them, or that she had become a mother would have stopped them. Their anger and pain had solidified into something dark and there was only one thing that would satisfy them at that time.
But with the deed done, and Ranma finally put to rest, the time for reflection had come. And one of the murderesses did not like what she saw in the mirror of memory.
She looked upon what had had happened and cringed from it. From the beginning of the romance, to its lovely high point, to its dark end, she examined every bit of it and found that things were different at that moment. Now that the rage had been released, this girl could recognise that Ranma had tried to be nice the whole time. The pigtailed girl had made every concilitory and apologetic offer that she could. That at least meant that she hadn't wanted to have their relationships to end, at least in anger. What she had wanted was to be... friends.
Looking back even further, into the relationship that she had with Ranma, the girl couldn't help but find that she had done something very wrong. Knowing that was gawing at her conscience, and she couldn't help but regret what she and the others had done. Which was not something that she was about to tell her 'co-conspiritors'.
So, suffering a late pain of conscience was:
