"Yes?" The newly appointed Governor of Germany asked as he tried to figure out the control panel. This one toggled the wall color. This one toggled the window's degree of polarity. This one made this Size Huge television lower from a hatch in the ceiling. This one apparently activated the Auto-Bar and this one opened up the medicine cabinet. That still left over thirty switches he didn't know what they did.
The joys of a new office and position. At least the pay was good.
"Governor Weinberg," said the Alexandrian soldier as she saluted, her armored fist banging against a bulletproof vest. "The groups that were 'vanished' during the first uprising have shown back up again."
"Where?" Hmmm. This switch apparently unfolded and activated this computer system from the desk. Hmm. Some sort of multi-tasking system that utilized (ack!) more switches. Oh wait a minute. Set as default. Emulate OS. Good. Now he didn't have to learn a truly alien computer system.
"Channel 47," said the soldier.
"Can you get it? I'm still figuring out the... oh that's handy. A mini-refrigerator that pops up from the floor."
The soldier turned the big darn TV on and flipped to the appropriate channel.
"How many channels does this thing get?" The new governor asked.
"Roughly 2000 channels, local, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Rome, and a few others," said the soldier. "Plus regular cable."
"That's gooooooooood-"
The soldier looked down the shaft that the chair (with Governor) had disappeared down. "That would be the Emergency Evacuation button that takes you directly to your hovercar, Governor. Oh fuss and bother."
A few minutes later, the Governor reappeared. "I'll need this adjusted for human tolerances of negative gee. Now what happened to those protestors and such?"
The soldier clicked the station back from some Italian soap opera that seemed to have a great deal of bare flesh being involved.
"Great Takahashi's ghost!" exclaimed Governor Weinberg. "They've been turned into
