Worse than that, there was no sign of the Chaos or Master Emeralds anywhere. He looked over at Rouge as she continued to snooze away. "This is all your fault, you know."

A small, yellow form darted bewteen the bushes. *Why can't she learn some self-restraint?* Pikachu thought as he searched through the brush.
Earlier that day, Ash and the other humans had stopped for the day, finding a clearing suitable for the night. Brock had just started to cook dinner when Ash let the others out to begin the afternoon's exercises.
Naturally, Bayleef was more than happy to see him again.
Naturally, she decided to show it in her own affectionate way.
And naturally, This let to an accident. Only this time, she ended up knocking Ash right into the cookfire. He was burned a little, but Misty and Brock was taking care of them. But Bayleef felt so bad, she had run off. As much as he wanted to stay by Ash right now, he knew that he would want to know that Bayleef was alright.
Pikachu paused as he smelled a spicy scent in the air. *That's her!" He ran out of the bushes to find Bayleef standing by a fallen tree, staring at something on the ground.
He asked her what it was, but she didn't know.
It was a huge purple gem, almost half a big as he was. Bayleef looked at him with tears in her eyes and asked that maybe, if she gave it to Ash, would he forgive her?
Pikachu told her that it didn't matter what had happened. Ash would care about her just the same.
It was the truth, and it seemed to cheer Bayleef up a bit. She sniffed once, apologizing again for hurting Ash. She said she was beginning to regret ever evolving, and wished that she was little again. At least then, she couldn't hurt Ash anymore.
Pikachu moved over to her, telling her that she would get used to her size a little better as time passed. It was a natural part of Pokemon Evolution, and even human growth.
She asked him why he never evolved.
Pikachu scratched his head, then dodged the question by remarking that, now that he thought about it, Ash really hadn't grown much in the four years he knew him, either.
Bayleef shrugged, as well as a quadredped could, and thanked him for helping her feel better. She reached out with a pair of vines, and reached towards the gem.
You really have to forgive her, she didn't know that it was a bad idea to touch it, being part of a species that was particularly sensitive to the elemental energies around them. Being that her type wasn't as sensitive as others, such as Pikachu. Unfortunately for her, Chaos Emeralds operate on whole orders of magnitude greater than the simple Elemental Stones of her world.
The energies of the emerald courused through her body, altering it in ways different than the usual Evolutionary path of her type.
Pikachu closed his eyes, momentarily blinded by the sudden flash of light from the gem. Instinctively, he shot a bolt of lightning at the gem, hoping to get it away from Bayleef. That only resulted in connecting him to the gem, and it's energies.
The light was now visible all the way from the campsite. Ash, heedless of his injuries, sprang up and ran for the campsite, Misty, and his other Pokemon in tow.
Pikachu screamed as his eletricity ran out of control and his body changed. His body gained in mass even as Bayleef's shrank. His fore and hind legs grew in both size and length.
Ash and the others burst into the area just in time to get hit by a Chaos Emerald-powered bolt.
