Raising Ranma: Introducing... Ranma, son of Doom ! [Episode 5803]

by Jamil Nate

He had been called many things : madman, tyrant, sorcerer, supervillain, megalomaniac... For his servants and enemies, he was simply Doctor Doom, ruler of Latveria and once master of the world. Twice already he had tried to have an heir to his name and legacy. The first had been a clone of himself who turned against him because of the Fantastic Four, Doom was forced to kill him. The second had been a latverian orphan, Kristoff, he adopted because his mother died trying to protect him. He had been a disappointment too. The memory transplant who would have made Kristoff as he was had been incomplete. Since then, he had been contaminated by Nathaniel Richards and the FFs, becoming one of those "heroes". There's a popular saying : "Third time's the charm". Doom found some truth in it since he took young Ranma Saotome of Japan under his care.

Be it Fate, luck or pure randomness, Doctor Doom was in Japan when the late Genma Saotome made the wish that killed him and made his son ludicrously rich. His mystical training let him feel the mystic disturbance and he went to investigate. After questioning the boy, Doom had deduced what happened. He decided to take Ranma under his care, he would secure his money away from the vultures and give it back to him when he would become an adult (Money wasn't Doom's main preoccupation, it was only a mean to his ends, he had enough of it already to want to steal Ranma's).

Ranma got the best martial arts teachers money and power could buy. He was tutored by the finest instructors in academic subjects such as History, Art, The social graces... Doom himself taught him science and magic even if Ranma was reluctant, his birth father died because of it after all. A few years later, Ranma made his own power armor (think Doom 2099's first armor) and was declared by Doctor Doom to be his own man. He was ready to announce his existence to the world. But first, Ranma had to go back to Japan. Doom, as a coming of age gift, had found that his mother was alive and well.

Ranma Von Doom, fully armored, was standing on top of Tokyo Tower's main antenna, his cape fluttering in the night's wind. Doctor Doom had Latveria as a base, Ranma had already decided that Japan would soon be his ! But for now, he was considering what would be his first move.
