Parents And Children - Thieves and Ninjas: Family Problems [Episode 58462]

by Thrythlind

"Kasumi," Nabiki called out, a little tired. "I'm home."

"Nabiki," Kasumi said, coming to the front of the dojo. "Father wishes to speak to you."

"About what?" Nabiki asked, suspiciously.

"About your walks, I think," Kasumi said. Nabiki nodded and slumped her shoulders for a moment before firming herself up to get ready for the confrontation. "Nabiki, what are you doing on these walks."

"I'm trying to fix the mess that Akane put us in," Nabiki said.

"You know father's opinion on the matter," Kasumi said.

"Do you agree with that?" Nabiki asked sharply.

"Well, it doesn't matter what I think," Kasumi responded hesitantly.

"Nabiki!" Soun's voice called out from the tea room.

"I'd better go," Nabiki said.

"I suppose so," Kasumi said. Nabiki left the entry hall and walked into the tea room to sit across from her father.

The mood was quickly evident as father and daughter silently sat across from each other, glaring for an interminable time.

"I've heard that you've been talking to some questionable people," Soun said grimly.

"I've been talking to some of Ranma's friends," Nabiki said.

"Yes, Hiroshi and Daisuke," Soun said. "Don't they spend their evenings at the brothels?"

"They do on occasion," Nabiki said. "But that is not where I met with them. Nor are they the only ones I've spoken to."

"I suspect as much," Soun said. "I'll not have my daughter prancing around with such men like a common whore. You're well old enough to have a husband, perhaps I should see to that."

"You did wonders for Akane," Nabiki said icily.

"That was not my fault," Soun protested. "How could I expect Ranma to betray us like that."

"Who betrayed who? And what of Kasumi?" Nabiki returned. "She needs a husband, doesn't she? Or are you can hold her here until she dies."

"She has a responsibility as the lady of this house," Soun snapped.

"She is not the lady of the house!" Nabiki snapped. "She's almost thirty and you still have not even started to look for a husband for her, but you'll send me off to keep me from doing anything you think is embarrassing!"

"Since when have you been this ungracious to your father!" Soun demanded.

"Ungracious!? You dare call me ungracious!?" Nabiki snapped back. "You make Kasumi replace mother, you make me handle the business and you let Akane run wild until she dragged our honor into the mud!"

"Akane has avenged our honor!" Soun declared standing up.

"Akane is a murderer," Nabiki snapped back standing up into his face. "And an incompetent one at that!"

"Ranma broke a sacred vow-"

"-made over a keg of German beer!" Nabiki snapped back. "By two drunken men."

"The situation does not matter," Soun declared. "Honor demands."

"Honor demanded a duel, father!" Nabiki snapped back. "A duel! Akane and those bitches planned an ambush! Are we samurai or yakuza?"

"You need to show more respect for your father," Soun snapped.

"My father?" Nabiki responded in equal temper. "I haven't seen my father since my mother died! All you are is honorless drunk!"

Soun seethed in silent anger for several moments as his and Nabiki's wills clashed silently. Soun's fierce gaze wavered ever so slightly and Nabiki spoke again.

"I'm leaving," she said. "I've learned everything I can learn here, so I'm leaving. Somebody needs to prove that the Tendos still know what honor means."
