None of the Onwiban seemed to know where the children were, of course, that could just be a clever front. The Kenshin group were searching as well, so they were unlikely to have the children. China was too far and whatever anybody else thought, she knew Ranma would never willingly send his children anywhere near Jusenkyo.
There was Shinnosuke, of course, but that was iffy. The man was more Akane's connection than Ranma's, and he'd be a dangerous guardian. Especially if Akane checked there and he forgot, or hadn't heard, who he was supposed to protecting the kids against.
Ranma would find a strong martial artist to protect his children. Somebody that was hard to find and clever, wily. Somebody that he had an understanding with. Somebody like Ryuu Kumon.
Unfortunately for that theory. Ryuu Kumon had stopped by the Saotome home to comfort the grieving mother. Unless Kumon was no longer alone, or a poor guardian, he was not likely to be the children's protector.
There weren't many other people that Ranma would trust with this kind of task. Certainly not Happosai. Besides which the old pervert had pretty much been given free reign since most of the martial artists were otherwise involved. Tarou hadn't even been by to keep the old man in check.
Nabiki blinked and stood up straight.
"No," she said. "He wouldn't...would he?"
