Now it had been close to an hour, and Genn was starting to get nervous, just waiting down in Gina's lab all by himself. So, leaving the area, he took the elevartor to the upstairs. Walking around he found the Diggers girls in the living room...
With Gina and Britanny seemingly arguing about something, while Brianna was trying to calm a boy that was shaking like a leaf. The rackshasa blinked his eyes once, then twice at the spectacle. "Uh... What's going on?"
"Genn!" Brianna called out, seeing their friend there. "Something's wrong with Ranma!"
"Ranma?" Genn asked.
"Our fiance." Gina said.
"Fiance!?" Genn asked. "When'd THIS happen?"
"When Britanny started acting angry and kept poking him, all because he wasn't falling head-over-heels for her, even though she said she had a boyfriend." Brianna answered, slightly glaring at her sister.
Britanny had the decency to look ashamed. "Hey, I didn't know he had some sort of cat-phobia..." She said pathetically.
Sighing, Genn didn't know what to make of this spectacle. "Now what?"
"We're trying to calm him." Gina said. "But I don't know what to do for him."
Genn nodded his head. He blinked his eyes as a thought came to him. "Hey. You know I have ESP... Perhaps I can try to figure ouyt why he's so afraid."
Brianna blinked her eyes. "You sure you can do that?"
"Yes. I've done similar things before, where I've read people's minds." Genn said. "With his mental guard down, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to access his memories."
Britanny looked at Genn. "Is that safe?"
Sighing, Genn shrugged his shoulders. "Not sure. Varies depending on who scanner is and who is being scanned. This can go easilly, or there could be some... 'Friction'."
"Please, Genn, don't put yourself at risk if this is dangerous." Gina said. She herself was used to being in danger, but when it came to magical beings doing something, she didn't want to find out the results if it went wrong.
Looking over at Ranma, Genn just shrugged it off. "It's okay. You guys have done quite a bit for me, getting me out of that buried temple. I can return the favor this way."
The girls nodded their heads with that. "Please, be careful Genn." Gina said in all seriousness.
"Don't hurt either yourself or Ranma, Genn." Brianna said witha tinge of fear to her voice.
Britanny was silent, just really feeling like a total heel.
Genn concentrated. Ranma's mind was so addled that he couldn't just access into his mind by looking at him. So, Genn placed his hand on Ranma's forhead to create a stronger link. Concentrating, Genn could already see many feelings of fear and sadness... But not all revolved around the cats...
Genn could see Ranma's pain. Feelings of abandonment... Sadness when he had to leave friends... Betrayel at being hurt by his father, at being... Cursed? Anger and fear at being chased by some insane girl ith purple hair and bonbori... Mortal fear as some training techniques were best descibed as insane...
And then... Genn say it... He found the link where the Neko-Ken stemmed from...
Genn cried out in pain, literally falling to the ground, shaking like a leaf.
"GENN!" All three Diggers sisters cried out. Brianna was still holding the scared-stiff Ranma, while Gina and Britanny went to check on the rakshasa.
"Genn! Are you all right? Speak to us!" Gina said as she shook Genn's shoulders a bit.
Britanny felt her fur on end. She knew this was all her fault. If only she hadn't blown a gasket at Ranma, everything would be all right.
Finally, Genn started to get control of himself. "I... I saw it..."
"Saw what?" Brianna asked, still holding Ranma.
"It... It was insane!" Genn cried out. "P, pain! Some old bald man in a white gi and large glasses... He... He wrapped Ranma in fish products and threw him into a pit of starving cats!"
"WHAT!?" All three girls asked.
His eyes watering from the pain, Genn shifted to her female form, as still being somewhat under the effect of Ranma, Genn felt it 'unmanly' to cry. The now female rackshasa wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. "He... He was thrown numerous times into a pit of starved cats while wrapped in food! They clawed and bit into him to get the food, hurting him over and over again!" Now Genn was sobbing.
All three girls looked white as a ghost. Ranma's father tortured him like that? What kind of monster was this Genma Saotome, and how could their own father be a friend with him!?
"Gina, Brianna," Britanny snapped, "I'm going to maim that bastard." Britanny said that in all seriousness. You just don't hurt a little kid like that!
"Not before me you don't." Gina said.
Genn gained control of herself a little. "And... That's not all..."
"Huh? There's more!?" Britanny asked.
Genn nodded her head. "It seems Ranma's father never allowed him to have friends for long while growing-up... And he engaged Ranma to more than a couple of families."
"HE WHAT?" Brianna asked. Brianna was taking a shine to Ranma, and the idea that others might try to take him... Oh, it made her so angry.
"And that's not all." Genn said.
"It gets worse?" Gina asked in disbelief.
"Yes." Genn said. "He got Ranma cursed."
Hearing that caused Brianna to wince a little.
"What kind of curse?" Gina asked.
"Shape-changing." Genn said. "With a splash of cold water, Ranma becomes a girl. And it reverses with warm water, turning him back into a man."
All three girls were silent. They didn't see that as a bad thing, changing into a girl... But they realized to a guy, it might be a nightmare come true.
"Screw the maiming, I'm gonna kill that basrard personally." Britanny said seriously, her eyes flashing with anger.
Gina and Brianna just nodded their heads. "All right, but first we need to take care of Ranma, Brit." Gina said.
