Wasting no time, Shampoo moved into action. Her plan was simple: head to the Tendo dojo, find Ranma, kiss him on the lips, and head back to China with her Airen in tow. A quick bicycle ride later, and she found herself at the door of the Tendo residence. She could hear the sounds of a scuffle inside.
There was no time to lose – Ranma might figure out what had caused her great grandmother to behave so oddly at any moment. The young amazon smeared balm on her lips, steeled herself, and knocked on the door. A few seconds later, and the door was opened by Soun Tendo.
“Good afternoon,” he said. “Can I help you?”
The sounds of the scuffle grew louder. From behind Mr. Tendo, Shampoo could hear the sounds of randomly flung objects and a familiar voice yelling “Whatta haul! Whatta haul!”
“Nihao!” Shampoo exclaimed brightly. “Is Ranma in?”
Soun looked behind him. “Yes,” he replied, “but … the Master seems to be ... um, training him right now.”
Without any warning Happosai shot through the doorway, holding a large bag full of lingerie that connected with Soun’s head. A second later Ranma shot out the doorway after him, yelling and cursing. In his haste, the young martial artist bowled straight into his fiancee’s father, knocking him straight into Shampoo and sending them both crashing to the ground. Their heads smashed into each other, their noses collided with each other’s cheekbones, and in the process their lips met.
“Stupid old man,” muttered Shampoo. Mr. Tendo didn’t seem to be moving. She picked him up and returned him to an upright position. “You okay?”
Soun stared at her for a moment. Then, without warning, he seized her in a bearhug.
“My love!” he exclaimed.
Oh no, thought Shampoo. She… he… damn. Deciding to cut her losses while she could, she freed herself from Mr. Tendo’s passionate embrace and ran for her bicycle.
Soun stared at her fleeting form for a minute, trying to react to the new feelings in his heart…
