Thieves and Ninjas: Resisting Questions [Episode 60579]

by Kender

Soun Tendo was a proud man, from a long heritage. He had trained and suffered under one of the most cruel individuals that he had ever known. That had turned him from a novice into a skilled fighter who had attained great power. His abilities had made him into a strong opponent for any foolish enough to fight him. They had had been honed through years of hardships caused by stealing, starving, and the occasional would be lynch-mob.

And now a single man wished to insult his family? That was something that he could not allow. Where was he when the Saotome boy had dishonored his family and broke the agreement between them? He was not about to allow this mockery of an offical the chance to insult family, smear Akane's name or bring up individuals who did not know where their loyalties should lie.

"I will not stand by and let you commit this criminal act!" declared the Tendo patriarch.

"That would not be in your best intrests," commented Saitoh, "and it would be foolish as well."

"It is you who is the fool!" barked the mustached man as he charged with his fist drawn for a strike.

Unfortunately for him, he hadn't considered what kind of man Saitoh could be.

The policeman had also become a strong fighter, but while Tendo had been chased around by angry shopkeepers, Saitoh was fighting in life and death battles. His skills had been trained under the unforgiving battles of the Revolution to the point where he had made such a large name for himself that he was heard of by people who would never know him. For him, killing was a neccessary thing at times, and he was good enough at it so that he could battle individuals such as the legendary Battousai. And while Soun had allowed himself to become sedentary, Saitoh was still working and keeping himself sharp.

So as Soun sent a rain of punches at him, Saitoh merely smirked and dodged every single one of them. The Tendo patriarch switched to mixing in kicks, but to no effect. It was getting frustrating for him, as he never got a hit on the man, and he was itching to do so. Bending at the waist, he launched a spin kick right at the man's chin.

Saitoh merely smirked as he stepped out of the way, his hands in his pockets. "That was pathetic," he commented around his cigarette.

"'Pathetic'?!" blurted Soun as he glared at the other man. "I'll show you! Why don't you try fighting like a true man!"

The policeman snorted. "Is that what you really want?"

"YES!"

"Then I'll just give you what you've asked for."

"Good, and I will show you how a real man fights!"

"I don't think so," Saitoh told him as he pulled his hands out and charged him.

Grinning to himself, Soun arced a fist in for a punch...

... only to find it blocked by one of Saitoh's arms, followed by a punch to his gut.

That drove the air out of Soun's lungs, and the former 'Wolf of Mibu' didn't stop there. He sent his own storm of punches at the other man's upper body. There wasn't much that Tendo could do other than twist in the wind of the blows. Every time he tried to send one of his own, Saitoh either dodged, blocked or launch a premptory blow of his own. Not that the one's he did land do much to the former fighter from the Revolution.

One last punch sent the Anything-Goes master sprawling to the ground , and Saitoh shook his head at the dazed man. 'He's easier to read than Segara was,' he thought to himself.

The officer who had stayed behind stepped up as his boss fixed his clothing. "What do we do with him now?"

"Arrest him. What else?" Saitoh drawled, "Assaulting a police officer, impeding an ongoing investigation and helping a wanted fugitive for a start."

"What about disorderly conduct? He was yelling up and down the street like a crazy man."

Raising a brow, Saitoh looked at the younger man. "Perhaps. But for the moment, we really must bring him into the station for questioning and booking."

"Yes sir!" declared the officer while:
