All based on a bunch of lies.
Starting with Ranma and Herb's 'accidental' death, she had found herself lying over so many things that it had become natural to do so. Lies about what had gone on then, what she knew, who she suspected... it all added up. And in making herself a success, she had managed to dig herself in deeper with those who shared her secret, put herself into a dangerous debt with one of them.
But she hadn't gone unscathed. In her dreams, she could still see Ranma's eyes as she had noticed the slip about the elevator. Everytime she came into contact with Nabiki Tendo she had to control her fear of discovery. It had forced her into a relationship with the others which she could not get out of. And to top it all off, while she was still technically married, she and Konatsu had seperated.
Her husband had finally reached his limit. After all the years of lies and half-truths, even his devotion was sorely tested. That was why he was in Kobe with their child, and she was sitting all alone in what should have been their home.
Gesturing towards the two pictures on the table with her glass of scotch, she gave a sad smile. "Here's to you..."
The images of Ranma and Konatsu just watched as she downed the liquid and let the tears run down her cheeks.
