"The land is still owned by the Musk," Nabiki noted. "And it's hard to find them. Ranma and Herb moved here before the building was quite finished after some maintenance issues in their old building."
"An elevator almost dropped them twelve stories, from what I understand," Kiima noted.
"Among other things," Nabiki said, she lightly kicked at a piece of debris. "I've been here so many times, never managed to find anything more than the official investigators found. Nothing."
"After all this time, they'll have to make a new mistake to be caught," Kiima said. Nabiki nodded in agreed frustration. "Legally at least."
"You aren't encouraging this girl on a vengeance quest are you?" Nabiki asked tightly. "I can't go along with that."
"Nabiki Tendo, defender of law and order," Kiima said in a bit of black amusement. "Interesting. In any case, no, we're teaching the children to protect themselves in case something should happen. Tarou and I both discourage taking vengeance, but...I worry at times that they...that Coriander might not be paying attention."
"What we need is to break their alliance," Nabiki said. "Manufacture something to make them nervous, get them to turn on each other looking for deals."
"Why haven't you done this already?" Kiima asked, curiously.
"Because it's heard to watch my own back," Nabiki said. "They don't know that I even guess anything about them yet, I'd like to keep it that way."
"Meanwhile they continue living their lives on the society page," Kiima noted, indicated a paper with Akane's face on it blowing past them.
"When we find Ranma's daughter," Nabiki said. "You and I need to sit down and compare notes, see if you have any of the pieces that I'm missing."
"Indeed," Kiima said.
