On the one hand, Kasumi was one of the Tendos and her recent experience with that clan had been disasterous to say the least. However, Kasumi had never given Nodoka any cause to be angry towards her.
"What is the matter?" Nodoka asked.
"Father's trial..." Kasumi said. "He's being sent to prison."
"Oh, dear," Nodoka said. "That must be hard for you, dear."
In truth Nodoka was relieved, but she couldn't say that to Kasumi. Though apparently she already understood as she held out her hand and waved it semi-dismissively.
"I don't ask you to feel sorry," Kasumi asked. "I know...I can't expect you to worry about him...with what happened to Ranma and...but...Nabiki's gone now..."
"What happened to Nabiki?" Nodoka asked suddenly.
"She and father had a fight over...Akane," Kasumi said. "And she...disappeared in the wilds. It's just me now and..."
"You need some help with the dojo," Nodoka reasoned.
"We've been surviving on Father's stipend from the council duties," Kasumi said. "But now..."
"Well, come with me," Nodoka said. "Perhaps I can help you."
