Thieves and Ninjas: The Next Step [Episode 61088]

by Thrythlind

"Ouch," Nabiki muttered as she jabbed herself again with the needle.

Much improved though she was, there were still things she was clumsy at. Such as sewing. She eventually got whatever repairs were needed finished well, but it didn't usually come out looking very good and it generally took her a long time and many pricks of the needle before she did finish.

She looked over to the children practicing as she sucked on the pricked finger and shook it out. They were starting to look so much like their parents. Kitsune especially, aside from the red-hair, took after Misao while Aoshi most strongly resembled Ranma, aside from a slightly more angular cast to the face. Watching them jump and twist in their sparring reminded her ever so much of the once common place sight that would occur between Ranma and his father and then, later, Ranma and Misao.

She noticed a pensive look on Tarou's face and knew what brought it on. They, the children, were nearly ready for a new set of techniques. By a combination of Tarou's teaching and Ranma's multiple corrections of faulty training methods in the Saotome-Ryu scrolls, they had sufficiently mastered most of the Saotome-Ryu and Onwiban-Ryu style. Aoshi would be introduced to the final techniques on those scrolls within the month. Kitsune was about a year behind him, having started training later.

Tarou was going to show them his own style after that, but that was unlikely to last long. He'd admitted that most of his fighting was centered around his cursed form, his actual martial training, before studying these scrolls to teach the styles within, had not been that extreme. So his median knowledge of cotten fist kung fu would be quickly eaten up.

And that only left the senken to teach. Neither Nabiki nor Tarou felt the children were quite ready for that responsibility. Aoshi was only thirteen yet, and the idea of what he could accidentally do with the yamasen was frightening. Nevermind what might happen should they teach him to turn invisible.

Fears of these children leaving to take vengeance for their parents and dying beacause they left too early were primary in Nabiki's mind. But there were other fears of what would happen should neither her nor Tarou be able to keep an eye on them.

And just to make things worse, she was getting sick. Just a little nasuea so far, but this far from a doctor it was enough to concern her. She hoped it was nothing too serious as her mind bent back to the sewing and the children's training.

"Damn it!" she snapped, sucking on her again bloodied finger.
