Plus it gave him the time to think. He could tell that they were close to becoming able to finally learn the Senkens. Actually they could manage it at the moment, but he wasn't too sure that he wanted to teach them the moves right then. Even if they could pull them off, it would still be dangerous to do so, such as had happened to that Kumon boy's father, or so Nabiki had told him.
"We have the time," she told him.
"I know, but..," he replied.
"But nothing. Rushing them won't help anyone, especially them."
"Which is something that I already know."
"And needed to hear."
"So you say. When did you get to know what I was thinking?"
"It's easy," she told him with a grin, and then rubbed her belly.
Watching her, Tarou frowned. "You're not still feeling ill, are you?"
"I am, but I'm sure that it'll pass."
"Do you wish to go rest on our bed?"
The brunette shook her head. "I'll be fine."
"That sounds to be something true enough," interrupted an aged voice.
Eyes widening, the couple turned to look at the speaker. "Cologne!" blurted Nabiki.
"That is my name child," replied the Amazon Elder.
"What do you want here, old hag?" asked Tarou.
"To see if I was right."
"And are you?"
"You do have the children."
His gaze narrowed at the old woman. "You aren't here to harm them for that tramp greatgrandaughter of yours, are you?"
"Certainly not! In fact, I'm here for quite the opposite."
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm here with an offer."
"What kind of offer?" asked a wary Nabiki.
"While you have done well to train those children so far, I can help them get to be even better."
"You're going to train them? Why?"
"Because of what was done to them. And they are the closest thing to heirs that I will have."
"What does that mean?"
"She was exiled, cast out and likely will be killed if found. As such, I am the last of my line. I had hoped that their father would help to rectify that, but that went horribly wrong. Still, the others decided that the children would be considered Amazons if they showed up, but to leave them be."
"And you disagreed with that."
Cologne nodded. "It was in no little part that this happened. And... I miss caring for little ones. And... I owe it to their parents, if nothing else. I liked them, and never wished such a fate upon them."
"And what if I were to ask that they be taught your Amazon secrets?" he asked cautiously.
"Then they will be taught, if they are ready."
Scowling, Tarou looked at the old woman, but found that it was hard to disagree with her, given the opportunity that this would bring them. "Then I guess that we'll have to take you up on it, but if you try anything..."
"I understand."
"Good. Then I suppose the first thing to do is to introduce you to the children."
"Perhaps."
"What does that mean?"
"Child, how long have you been ill?" Cologne asked Nabiki idly.
"About a month," the brunette replied.
"And in that time, have you... missed anything?"
"No I don't... Oh my..."
"What?" asked a confused Tarou, "What is it?"
"I didn't think..."
"'Think' what?!"
The Amazon Elder grinned at him. "If I'm right, you're going to be father."
"Oh, I'm going to be a ... father?"
"Precisely."
As he took in that information, Tarou looked at his lover's eyes and saw a matching realization in them while:
