As such, the entire time it had seemed that Kasumi was only trying to do what was proper in the face of so much trouble. Unfortunately, her father had not seen it, and over time he had become more and more obssessed as time went by. The Saotome matriarch had wanted to do something for her, but hadn't had the chance to.
But with current events, she not only had the opportunity to help the girl, but to make what had seemed like her dream come true. And in doing so, she was able to see the fruits of her labors blossom.
"Now, I'll need some of these herbs," Megumi said, pointing with one finger at each of them.
"Of course Sensei," Kasumi replied with a slight nod.
"With them, little Misao here shall get over her cold right quick. Won't you sweetie?"
The bundle in Kaoru's arms gave a little sound. "See, she answered you," Kenshin's wife said with a smile.
"It's Sensei's touch," Kasumi said idly.
"Oh?"
"It's true. I'm sure that she will be a good mother."
"You think so?"
"Certainly."
"But she's going to run out of time..."
"She could be with child as we speak."
"If Sanosuke's been doing his job, that is."
"I suppose he is, but with all the noise from their room, I don't know..."
"I'm right here you know!" yelled Megumi.
"We know that..."
Kaoru shrugged. "We didn't see you go anywhere."
"Argh! Can we get off of the subject of my sex life?!" demanded the doctor.
Her student blinked and then blushed. "Is that what we're talking about? I thought it was about you having children."
"But you were talking about what I was doing in my room!"
"I don't know what you do, just that it is loud. But does sound like you're enjoying yourself."
Megumi twitched. "That's... enough. If Sanosuke and I have children, then we will. End of story. Understand?"
"Completely Sensei."
"But do you want to practice?" Kaoru asked, "Kenshin and I could use the time to go out by ourselves."
The doctor just hung her head as Nodoka giggled. This was what she had always wanted, and the only thing that would make it better would be to have her grandchildren there. Until then she had plenty to enjoy, while:
