"That was that woman from earlier today," her partner noted.
Tadeo was a solid, common-seeming man, married, dependable, just an average Japanese worker. He didn't stand out especially and didn't often comment on matters. Only when he felt a comment needed to be made, and he was generally quite on the ball in figuring out what was going on.
"Yes, she found her god-daughter," Nabiki said.
"So, from what I could gather, you weren't used to being friendly to each other," Tadeo noted.
"Never knew her well," Nabiki said. "Just a few encounters here and there other than that it's what I heard from my sister. Was something of a bigoted, Chinese supremist from what I was told, not apparently the case now."
"Really, Nabiki," her partner noted. "I saw your face when you realized who she was, you get the same look whenever you find a trail in a case."
"I think you might be imagining things," Nabiki said.
"This is about your cold-case isn't it?" Tadeo asked. Nabiki frowned and looked up.
"What are you talking about?" Nabiki asked.
"Lots of detectives pick out an unsolved case to go over in their spare time," Tadeo noted. "But from what I can tell you've been doing this same cold-case from soon after getting out of the academy. A young married couple killed in an explosion, they'd tried to move in before the building was completed and there was a leak in the gas pipes or something."
"And how do you know I've been studying that case so long?" Nabiki asked.
"The print dates on some of the files in your apartment," he said. "The wife was a friend of yours right?"
