Ranma sat up wearily, shaking his head clear, and heard arguing in the next room.
"My Lord," Kimuri's voice said respectively. "You should not tax your son at this time."
"My son is a Crab samurai," his father's voice retorted. "Not some fragile Phoenix."
"And that must be why he was able to survive long enough for me to heal him," Kimuri said respectively. "He shall be fine soon. You can reprimand him them."
"He is my son, Asako!" Kisada snapped.
"I bow to your wisdom in the healing arts, Lord Hida," Kimuri answered deferentially. Ranma could almost feel the bow. There was a moment of silence at the veiled reprimand.
"I would know why he decided to forgo the standard protections for fighting the hordes of the Shadowlands," Kisada said.
"Ah," Kimuri said.

"I am pleased to finally meet you, Lady Isawa," the Kuni shugenja said with a secretive smile. "Might I ask what information it is that you are seeking?"
"You know that as well as I do, witch hunter," Kiima said disdainfully.
"Of course," was the answer.
