She needed to calm the woman down before Akane's panics sent the four of them on another killing spree. One motivated out of fear rather than jealousy.
"Ukyou," Akane said with an obvious expression of relief. "Finally. Come on, we can talk in my office."
"Akane you're getting worked up over nothing," Ukyou said firmly as she handed her jacket and hat to the receptionist before following Akane into the room. Once inside she shook her head irritably. "What's the matter with you, acting like that in front of your staff is going to get them thinking."
"And what about you?" Akane asked, referring to Ukyou's own remark in the other room.
"I had to say something to make it look like I wasn't worried," Ukyou insisted. "But really, you can't let this make you fall to pieces."
"You can talk, Kiima never tried to kill you," Akane reminded her.
"I'll give you that," Ukyou said. "But what makes you think these kids aren't hers? What if she married some Musk person or something. This could be completely unconnected."
"There was a kid with wings," Akane said. "But he didn't look Musk at all."
"Different fathers," Ukyou suggested hopefully.
"No, Ukyou," Akane said irritably. "Ranma had children and Kiima has them with her. You don't know her, she makes Kodachi's plots look amateurish. If she has Ranma's children, it's for a reason."
"Look," Ukyou said. "Even if you're right, what makes you think she has any interest in us. She could have sprung this at any time. You're just getting paranoid."
"Maybe," Akane said. "I'm jumping at shadows a little. Nabiki called to talk about Kaneda's birthday and I just about broke down thinking that she knew."
"Nabiki called you," Ukyou said. Akane failed to note that her demeanor had changed. "When was that."
"I'm not sure," Akane said. "Half an hour ago maybe, maybe more."
Ukyou nodded in consideration. Maybe Nabiki had made that call before Ukyou had talked to her. Certainly the middle Tendo would not have held silent this long if she suspected anything.
"For now," Ukyou said, shaking her worries clear. "Let's just keep this between me and you. If they show up, we can start worrying about it. Okay?"
"That may be too late," Akane said. "But, you're right, we don't know where they are, so we can't do too much else."
