"Not the Obiwaban or the authorities?" asked Nabiki.

"They should know of course. But the children are going to need the best defenders, and that means Sanosuke, Kenshin and the rest. Besides, there will be a big to do if the two children go there, with their inheritence and all."

"True... but do we go at this out in the open, or go tell them in private?"

"Private would be better. If it were public, we wouldn't be able to prepare first, in case they are, or have someone else, watching."

"Not only that," put in Kasumi.

"Huh?"

"There are the everyday folk to consider. Gossip such as this would really be juicy, and would spread everywhere, so that it would reach them no matter where they went."

"Hey, you're right..."

Nabiki got a mischeveous grin on her face and looked at her sister. "Okay, so who are you and what did you do to Kasumi?"

"Pardon?" asked the older woman.

"I'm supposed to be the one that went after the gossip, not you."

"Yes, but I did listen in on all the housewives talking back when I was younger, and people like to talk to their healers. It's how I learned that Mrs. Miyama wasn't taking her medication as she should."

"You think you know someone," Nabiki said with a rueful shake of her head. "Anyway, you both think that it would be best if we did it that way?"

"Oh yes. We can still tell the others after."

"Plus, it's much easier to 'explain' why we're over there," Tsunan commented, "As we spend a lot of time with them anyway. We can just say that you're a... 'relative from the country', or something like that."

"Lying without lying... I like that," commented Nabiki. "Let's do it like that."

"Okay," Tsunan replied while:

• they prepared for the meeting.
• Kenshin and friends were unaware of what was about to happen.
• the former fiancees were unaware of events happening.
• Tarou and the kids were making their way to Tokyo.
• Kuno was bemoaning his failure to 'punish the Foxes'.
• something else was happening.
