Ranma gritted his teeth and fired off the Amaguriken again. Five hundred. Eight hundred. A thousand. One good hit would take out one of the birds but there were so many it looked like he'd be overwhelmed from sheer numbers.
Then they were gone, much fewer of the black shapes squawking and moving just out of reach where they could glare evilly in his direction.
Ranma considered letting the birds go that had tried to feast on his eyes and entrails and HAD been doing so to the guy behind him. As the evil little birds fluttered around, looking for an angle to attack him from before settling into a large group ahead of him. He considered it.
"Mouko Takabisha!"
He also rejected it.
Ranma turned to the guy groaning on the rock. Least he could do was make the guy's final moments comfortable.
"Thank you," said the muscular-looking guy as he slumped down.
Ranma checked the chains, nodded as he checked out the weak link on them, and broke that link. "No problem."
"I'm afraid it will be a problem, have my boon at least," said the figure as he reached out to touch his savior.
Ranma stiffened as he felt something pass into him. "Uhm. Why were you chained to that rock anyway?"
"Punishment. For the crime of aiding humanity by passing them the spark."
Ranma thought about it and spotted how wounds that would have killed him were slowly healing on the guy. He came to the obvious conclusion. "You mean like chi?"
"Yes," said the fallen man, "something like that."
"Know any special techniques?" asked Ranma, as subtle as a tank division.
"Some. I could teach you, if you like."
"That'd be cool," admitted Ranma. "So, uh, what's your name anyway? I'm Ranma."
"Prometheus," said the Titan.
