Titan's Gift: Sympathy For A Wild Horse, in G Minor [Episode 62845]

by Kestral

"WHO?" asked a 900 foot tall skeletal figure wreathed in blue flames. "WHO DARES TO FREE MY PRISONER FROM HIS ETERNAL TORTURE?!"

"Tatewaki Kuno!" yelled Ranma, currently hiding behind the boulder the other guy had been chained to. "Blue Thunder Of Furinkan High School."

"Tatewaki Kuno?!" roared the skeleton. "You shall suffer for this! You shall... where'd he go?"

"Back to his home reality apparently," said Prometheus. His rescuer having opened the 'portable hole' and diving through as soon as he could. "Honestly, wasn't three thousand years long enough?"

"Well," grumbled the skeleton, shrinking down to the size of a normal human. More or less. Flesh clothed the bones, followed by an expensive-looking Italian business suit. "It's the principal of the thing. Have to dole out an appropriate punishment. It's in my job description you know."

"Oh, I know," said Prometheus, who knew darn well that 'Tatewaki Kuno' had NOT been the name of the boy freeing him. He was also pretty sure Pluto knew that too - but Pluto WAS one of those sorts who had to at least go through with the proper form and letter of the law and such.

"Hmph," said Pluto. "'Blue Thunder'? High School kid. Hang on. I'll pull up his file."

"What's that?" asked Prometheus.

"They call it a 'blackberry,'" said Pluto, fiddling with a little box. "You might want to catch up on human technology. Check out Akihabara in Japan. Sort of a mecca of such things. Ah. Here we go. Tatewaki Kuno. Oh my, just LOOK at all that negative karma to work with."

"'Karma'?" asked Prometheus.

"He's got a high level of hubris," explained Pluto. "Oh, this is going to be fun. You know, he looks a lot different here. Must have used a disguise."

"That's got to be worth some negative points right there," said Prometheus, meeting Pluto's eye and now knowing that Pluto was quite aware of his rescuer not being named Tatewaki Kuno. As long as nobody rubbed his face in it though, Pluto was apparently okay with that.

"I think so," said Pluto. "This might be quite amusing. Oh yes. Quite amusing."

Prometheus waited for Pluto to fade out, then went about the process of trying to find this 'Akihabara' place.

"Whoa," said Prometheus three days (subjective) later.

He had sampled a number of things and had come to the conclusion that this was most thoroughly nifty.

Still, he had to reward the boy who'd rescued him. There was an obligation involved. God or titan or whatever - that was something you had to address.

Now, how to do it? The boy, whose name was actually Ranma Saotome, had been in possession of a Well Of Many Worlds - a gateway that could be used to access alternate universes.

The problem was the 'had been' part was applicable too. Apparently Pluto had turned a blind eye towards Ranma's identity officially, but had made sure that such a device wasn't going to be used AGAIN to trespass. So it was back in the possession of those who had originally lost it, and Ranma was back to getting punted towards the horizon for accidently slipping on a freshly waxed floor and falling atop a VERY short-tempered girl. Kind of reminded him of Hera, except for the lack of going off to frolic with nymphs. Which usually had Zeus going off to dally with someone himself, followed by Hera going into murderous rage mode. And so on. Old story. Very old.

Prometheus smiled as a way to repay Ranma occurred to him, suggested by the video he was currently watching.
