"I'm glad that you could all come," the woman said.
"Okay, so we're all here. Mind letting us know why you've asked us to come?" asked the former fighter for hire.
Kaoru glared at him. "Sanosuke!"
"What?"
"Don't worry about it?" Kasumi's 'relative' commented. "It's just the Sanosuke I remember so well being what he always was."
"Hey! How'd you know my name?"
"We've met before, though I'm not surprised that you don't remember me. Time does change people."
"So, who are you then?"
"As Kasumi no doubt told you, I am a relative of hers."
"What sort of relative?"
"One that is very close."
"Oh, like that's a lot of help."
Peering at the new woman, Yahiko shrugged. "I don't know about that. She looks familiar, like I've seen her somewhere before. And she does look something like Kasumi."
"That's a very good thought, Yahiko, or should I say, 'Little Yahiko'?"
"Don't call me that!"
"But it's so much fun."
"Fun? The last person to think that it was that funny was..," he trailed off and stared at her.
"That's right," she said with a grin, "I'm Nabiki Tendo."
Megumi frowned in thought as most of the group stared. "But you were to have disappeared years ago."
"I did. Went to the last place that anyone would look for me."
"So you went to the country," Sanosuke muttered, "What does that have to do with calling us here."
"It isn't the reason."
"Then what is?"
"The father of my children is coming here," Nabiki told them cheerfully.
"But what does that mean for us," asked a confused looking Kaoru.
"It's quite simple. He's not the important part, but what he's bringing with him is."
"What is that?"
"Not 'what', 'who?'. Tarou has Aoshi and Kitsune with him."
"WHAT?!" came the collective shout from most of the Kenshin crew, save for the Battousai himself.
"Before Ranma and Misao died, they entrusted the care of their children to Tarou, and now has come the time to bring them home."
"But how do you come into this?" asked Megumi.
"Simple. I figured out who had been given care of the children, and went to find him. Once I did, I couldn't leave, so I lived there, growing closer to Tarou, and had two children by him."
"So you're saying," observed Yahiko, "That the kids that we searched the entire contry for are still around and are making their way here?"
"That's exactly it."
"This is great news!" enthused Kaoru.
"Yes, but until we are sure that they can be safe, we'd like to keep this under wraps for now."
Kenshin nodded. "You don't want to alert the wrong people, that you don't."
"Yes, but in several days they'll be here."
"Will they be safe?" Karou asked.
"They should be," Nabiki commented simply, "What with what Tarou and Elder Cologne have been teaching them, they should definately be."
"'Elder Cologne'? Isn't that the name of the grandmother of one of them?"
"Great-grandmother actually, and she's not at all happy with what they did. So she sought out the children and found us. Since then she's helped out a lot, and I don't think that we could have done without her."
"This is most welcome news, that it is," Kenshin said softly while:
