Soun & Genma's : Operation Cancel Christmas (DARK) [Episode 63180]

by Kestral

8:34:05am Tick

Ranma had sat down some time ago and was beginning to drowse at his desk.

Miss Hinako was about to bounce a piece of chalk off of Ranma's forehead.

Akane supressed a yawn but was actually sympathetic of Ranma. Was it humanely possible to make Japanese History even more boring than Miss Hinako had made it?

Hiroshi and Daisuke were reading ecchi magazines hidden behind their schoolbooks.

Ukyo began to wince, as Miss Hinako's aim with that chalk was notoriously bad.

Miyo, the tarot girl, looked at the cards she'd drawn this morning and drew another card to confirm.

Elsewhere, Genma began tugging a cork out of a bottle.

Also elsewhere, Happosai stopped in mid panty-looting to look towards Furinkan. "Nah, it couldn't be..."

8:34:06am Tock

Ranma began to slump forward.

Miss Hinako's piece of chalk sped forward.

Akane lost the battle against the yawn.

Yuka and Sayuri prepared to hold their books in front of their faces to avoid flying bits of chalk.

Hiroshi began to turn a page.

Miyo, the tarot girl, turned pure white and stared at the card she'd drawn.

Elsewhere, the cork cleared the neck of the bottle in Genma's hands.

Also elsewhere, Cologne finished staring at the I Ching she'd just thrown.

8:34:07amTick

The piece of chalk bounced off Ranma's head at an oblique angle.

Ukyo prepared to block the chalk rather than get hit with it, though she was beginning to realize it wasn't heading her way.

Daisuke turned and unfolded a page.

Yuka and Sayuri ducked behind their books.

Gosunkugi looked over Miyo's shoulder at the card she'd drawn at wondered why he felt like he should be praying for forgiveness for all the sins he'd committed in this life.

Blood red smoke poured out of the bottle that was held by Genma and began to form a shape.

Still elsewhere, Cologne had opened a trapdoor to the basement and was bodily hurling a startled Shampoo down it.

8:34:08am Tock

Ranma's hand began the trip up to his head.

Akane got a startled look as a piece of chalk flew into her open mouth mid-yawn.

Ukyo stared at the odd shot but also stared at how all the little fine hairs on her arms were slowly rising.

Miyo began a leap towards the door.

Kasumi finished paying the grocer and prepared to turn towards home when something seemed to say no. "Mother?"

Cologne leapt towards the trap door in her cafe floor, ignoring the startled yell from Mousse.

At the Tendo house, the glass bottle that had contained something that had held something else shattered as that second something was freed.

8:34:09am. Thunder.

If it had been a nuclear bomb, the first wave would have registered a mere 4 kilotons. 4000 tons of TNT equivalent force only.

Genma and Soun were shot away from the point of impact as the house and dojo vanished in a spray of pieces so fine as to resemble powder.

The rest of the immediate neighborhood dealt with the same thing and similarly failed to contain the force. Houses that had survived the firebombing of Tokyo had come apart and been shredded by the first wave of impact.

The ground pulverized and crushed beneath the force of the pressure wave.

The red vapor continued to form at its core.

The pressure wave shattered the front of the Cat Cafe, throwing pieces of glass and wood and metal with the force of bullets towards the rear of the cafe.

Phone, power, and gas lines were severed.

Akane began to choke on the chalk even as the windows to the classroom shattered.

The students nearest the wall shrieked and tried to cover themselves as the wave slammed into the school. The structure had been built to withstand earthquakes and had fared fairly well against martial arts battles, and so while some parts were obliterated overall the school stood.

The Ucchan's and the stores alongside it shook, and their outer walls broke from the impact.

Happosai looked towards the distant plume and summed it up fairly well as befitted someone of his age. "Oh shit."

8:34:10 am. Fire.

The vapors built within the crater that centered on what had once been the Tendo home.

Temperatures flared to high and then surpassed even the temperatures normally found in Japan in the summer. As they climbed above the melting point of rock at the center, the crater itself began to slag and fuse.

Wooden buildings erupted into flame and the various gas lines followed suit. Rubber burned and melted. Now a wave of superheated air formed a second wave as it passed out of the crater area.

"Stay down," commanded an old ghoul as she felt her great-granddaughter trying to move.

People at Furinkan began to move towards the ruined front of the building.

8:34:16 am. Formation.

It began to solidify and stretch as it was finally able to move. Zeus had imprisoned it long and long ago. When the prison had been discovered, and the writing deciphered, the feeling of evil and presence of destruction within had convinced the discoverer to seal the prison inside a bottle prepared by holy men of four seperate faiths. They had then sent it as far from their homelands as they could - which in that day had meant the Far East.

Those of Japan had determined that the evil within was powerful and absolutely without control. Rather than move it outside Japan where some enemy might try to use it against them, they had sealed it as well as they could.

Generations passed. Then a thief followed the signs of great treasure.

Typhon's form began ghostly looking and slowly growing more opaque.

It looked like (appropriately enough) a monster. A hundred serpentine heads erupted from its body, sending cones of flame and lightning and wind outward. The wings flexed and formed a storm which swept the land before it. It combined the worst aspects of typhoon and earthquake and volcano - all in one elemental package.

The heat wave set forth earlier set the Cat Cafe and Ucchan's afire, not that they were alone.

The heat wave struck Furinkan High School, causing front gates to smoulder, trees to wither and flame, and those nearest the windows to scream in pain as it hit them as well. Those still gawking at the sight had slightly over a second before their own temperatures rose by a few hundred degrees.

Most had seen the wall of red superheated air and exploding buildings and had run as best they could.

8:34:20am

The ground shook as Typhon took its first steps in millenia, eyes looking for any sign of the hated Zeus.
