"Your grandfather was a soldier?" the Commander asked.
She nodded. "Yes sir. He and Ranma's grandfather had served together in the same unit and became almost like brothers. After serving together, and some rather... difficult times, they decided to combine their families. Since Ranma's grandfather had already engaged his child, they put it for their grandchildren."
"And I can assume by your presence here that they survived the war."
"They did. And over the years, ithey kept in contact, and once Ranma was born, it passed to me."
"I see... Well, seeing as you are a good officer, and I am not about to throw you away," the Commander told her, "I think that it would be okay to do this."
"Thank you!"
He raised a brow and she bashfully settled down. "Be as it may, I am only allowing you the proper leave for something like this. And remember that you will have to report in on time."
Misato tried to surpress her grin as she took the pass from her Commander. "Yes Sir!"
"Then that will be all. Dismissed."
She saluted and turned on her heel before going to the door to leave.
"Katsuragi."
"Yes Sir?"
"You're welcome."
Nearly giggling, she nodded as she left, pass in hand, and began thinking about ways to approach her fiance while:
